Do you have a TCU tune?

I would appreciate any feedback regarding your TCU tune. I'm thinking of getting one and I'd like to hear about your experience. Thanks in advance.

I have a tuned TCU from a Demetre Tatakashvili (sorry spelling may not be quite right). Thing I liked about it is that it includes a TCU so its plug and play, no need to send him yours so you keep it as a spare. In Comfort and Sport the changes are faster and smoother but you notice it more in manual mode where the torque limiters have been removed, this is quite different. Not sure if he posts here but you can find him on Facebook where there is a closed group for E55 owners.

Thanks. What does removing torque limiters mean and how does that affect performance?

One more question, does the E63 need or benefit from a TCU tune? Is this specific to the E55?

The TCU tune is one of the few mods I've held off on. I too am interested to hear some other feedback.

I am just regurgitating what I have been told and read from the Facebook group. The TCU limits the torque to protect the gearbox. The upgraded TCU removes these in manual mode.

Have a look here

2016 E63s Wagon - CCB & CF package
Does the EC tune only remove the torque limiters in M and not in C and S?

If anyone from EC can tune in, it'd be very helpful. Thanks!

I've been on the fence about this as well, curious to hear more inputs.

I have the "demetre" TCU in my car. It's a night and day difference and makes the car feel 1,000lbs lighter and shifts are much faster. It feels more like the 7 speed out of the 63's (NA version). I can take a video and post it if anybody is interested.

Wow, that definitely piques my interest, brother! Do you notice the difference in "S" mode as well, or just "M"?

C remains the same. If there is a difference I have yet to notice. I rarely drive in C anyways. S mode is certainly different. It will kick down much quicker with more precision than before. When it does kick down on partial throttle it will downshift pretty quickly verse the OE tune where it sort of rolls into the next gear. The upshifts in S mode are again, much quicker and precise with longer holds and less torque management. S mode during full throttle in 1-2-3 are lighting quick, it feels more like a SMG car with the fuel cut and shift rather than torque management shutting everything down and rolling into the next gear. It's a much faster gear change and allows for much harder acceleration.

The main difference is in M mode. The upshifts and downshifts are dealt with a very quick and harsh shift. I say harsh because it's not buttery smooth like OE tune, but harsh in the fact that it gets into gear without any hesitation. It removes all torque limiters in M, it is essentially "dyno mode" with the driving aids still in place. The line pressure is increased slightly and nets a quicker upshift. I will try to post a video this week. It's Greek Easter tomorrow and I'm not sure the father would like a TCU shifting video leaving church..I'm trying this on my phone so excuse any half or run on sentences and errors.

At the end of the day, I would suggest doing it. Demetre's TCU is a huge hang for the buck and it makes the car very fun. I can't comment on wear and tear and with the increased operating pressures I probably won't be at Road Atlanta with this TCU, it's pretty easy to swap back to the OE and know I'm operating in safe perameters. It's personal preference for comfort and nothing against the product.

What's the cost of his TCU tune? He's the guy on that Facebook group for E55/E63 owners isn't he? Or does he post here also?

Excellent review of this TCU...thanks for your time, Nick! Heard there were some possible rev-limiter issues depending on which ECU tune you're running, but it sounds like yours is good to go. It sounds really good.

WideRide- Indeed, that's him. Don't know that I've seen him here. He also makes the upper pulley in custom sizes that utilizes the stock clutch...very intriguing.

I'm not sure if it's the Weitec or not. I thought Weistec was set at 7000RPM, Demetre's is 6800RPM. Which is fine for me. My ECU is set at 7100RPM

He was selling the weistecs tcu's and then changed the name to his, so most likely a weistec clone tcu tune. They have the same characteristics

Well whomever is the original creator of the file made a hell of a TCU tune. It makes the car feel 1,000lbs lighter!

I just don't think over revving the car like that does anything for power, might feel faster but probably not.its a lot of stress on the motor and trans.
