E55 Exhaust question...

This might sound ridiculous... but I have been wondering...

I see many members on here that has taken the W204 C63 AMG exhaust and fit on the W211 E55 and achieve epic exhaust note.

I had a C63 before and I loved the cold start and the exhaust note... The E55 seems a little bit too quiet.

With that being said... with the difficulty of finding the C63 stock exhausts...
Is it even possible to get an aftermarket C63 exhaust (ie. iPE, armytrixx, agency power or akrapovic)... and would that fit our E55?

I am slowly getting to know my E55... so dont mind my idioticness...

Please chime in...

to the OP. i'm in the same boat as you are.
Don't mean to cut into your thread, just curious what you end up with.

Are you looking to just replace mufflers? or delete the resonators as well?

I have seen a few C63 mufflers here with tips for sale. I am also curious if it would make sense to go OEM C63 vs an aftermarket unit.

No worries man!

I am looking to replace mufflers but possibly looking into deleting resonators... I guess it all depends.

I had C63, and i absolutely loved the exhaust note on that car... I just want the E55 to be little bit louder.

The only problem with going louder on a E55 is that the tone of the exhaust changes and IMHO not for the good.

How do you 'modify' the mufflers?

We bypassed the u bend that goes into the main chamber so that the air flow goes straight into the first chamber and out through the two pipes that exit the muffler. In a stock muffler the sound gets muffled twice. This mod will cause it to only be muffled once. The sound is not only louder it's deeper than stock (SL55ish) I wanted to increase the sound without changing the tone.

Nice, I've never seen that done before. That's a pretty clever idea.

I just checked them out right now. Hard to say the tone sounds different but can't put a finger on it.

It's definitely louder than stock bit more importantly to me is that it still sounds like a E55. My buddy that lives near by has a E55 with stock exhaust and when you put the two side by side at idle you can't hear his exhaust. It was worth the $300

Ya and $300 is cheap. That's probably the best route you can take IMO.

My guy at the muffler shop said that if I want it louder that he can go into the main xhamber and cut out the two perforated pipes and weld in two solid pipes so the sound will not be muffled at all.

Save your $$ and modify your stock exhaust.

Is there cut and weld for the C63 mufflers to fit in other AMG55 models? Or are the C63 mufflers/tips bolt in for the E55 or SL55?

There's a good video on YouTube on the installation of C63 mufflers on a E55
