55K project
hi all. finally got around doing something i had been contemplating for quite some time now. took apart my 512wheel E55 and started swapping Engine, Tranny, brakes, rear end, etc etc into 190E. I have never like the w201 much, but the sheer fact that it will be around 1100kg pushed me to make the move. its too hard and to expensive (even though i make my parts) to keep up with big boys with twin turbos and what not with an outdated, if i may say, E55. she was fast making over 500 wheel, but not enough really. so i decided to shed weight.
before starting the assembly we took the engine apart to look inside, and found 2 of the cylinder walls to be scratched. a drop in was really not an option at the time so decided to sleeve the block, against Eric's most probably correct advice. as this was an experiment from the beginning, said what the hell and threw in pistons from m113 to raise the compression. tried to follow Eric's Frankenstein build. lol. the biggest question mark is will the car run on pump gas as there is no E85 where i am and will the methanol injection help out to balance the lower than needed octane for the compression. we ll just have to wait and see.
the hardware part is almost done. exhaust is the pretty much the only thing that remains. just need to do the wiring and interior now and then paint her.
thought i d wait to finish everything before i posted about it but i am too excited to do. especially now that i am seeing light at the end of the tunnel lol
thought i d share.
cheers.

Ye we havevpretty decent knowledge of the electronics. Done a couple w209 and w203 m113k swaps. And like a half a dozen w201 and w202 m113 swappes wirh manual. Granted this will be a lotnmore complicated but i totally dismantled the donor car, but even so there will be a few things we will need tongo around...
Lets see. I think she ll be good to start by the end of july...
