Nasty Odor/Fumes?!
Has anyone else experienced this?
I have headers and primary cat delete and I'm familiar with the exhaust smell on start up but this seems different. More chemical like.
It's happened several times but only after driving the car for a couple of hours. I get a strong chemical smell in the car. Thought I had an exhaust leak but the shop didn't find one. I thought maybe the 2nd cats are failing after they get hot but they said they should work better when hot.
I don't think it's fuel tank issues as it does not smell like gas, more like raw fumes or exhaust to me. Windows up or down I can still smell it. Is it possibly from the A/C? (seems unlikely).
I would appreciate any input.

Since fitting your headers have you re-torqued the bolts, especially the down-pipe bolts, after a few heat cycles they need to be re-torqued otherwise you can burn out the gaskets, which could be what you are smelling, raw exhaust fumes
- If you get exhaust smell on startup in/around the cabin area you will have a leak
- Also start taking note of your voltage and make sure it stays within spec, when the voltage regulators start to go you will smell a plastic/wire like burning smell
