quick question about halogen to xenon headlights
I have halogen headlights and I want to buy xenon headlights from someone locally. the xenon headlights I want to buy have broken tabs and no bulbs but have the ballasts and lens etc. could i use my halogen headlight housing with the xenon ballasts, swap the lens and buy the xenon bulbs? are the housings identical? would i have to take it to the dealer for any computer update from STAR? or is it plug and play?

Yeah, double no. You don't mention the year, but they're Bi-xenons so they have a shutter for the high beam. They also auto level and the later years had active curve illumination. There are many threads that talk about how you can't use halogen projectors with xenons because they're not designed to focus the light properly and you will blind other motorists as it will scatter the light. Just look the bulbs, they're completely different and the projector can't be designed to handle both.

I have an 05 E500. the headlights i want to buy locally are from an 06 E-class. I didnt think about the projector issue when I posted and its true cant use halogen projectors with xenon bulbs. Wouldnt be an issue if i were to use the projector from the xenon headlight with my halogen headlight assembly but not gonna happen since i just searched on ebay and the housings are different. thanks for taking time to respond ✌🏼️
