Cold start fires up, but only on 2nd try
The car just (03 E55) started doing this trick the other day. Get in in the morning, crankcrankcrank no start. 2nd attmempt and it fires right up. Never another issue till cold start the next day. The first time it did this, I let it crank til it stopped by itself and it threw an obd p0207, an issue with #7 injector. Which appears to be just fine and even if it wasn't how would that keep it from starting up? Code erased, hasn't come back, this is day 3 of no start, stop cranking, fire right up the 2nd try. Anyone have a clue? Cuz I sure don't yet.

The tank pumps and filters all got replaced under the fuel sender warranty last year. I'll try the 5sec on then start thing next...On a possibly related note, is the tach supposed to register rpm during cranking, or does the needle stay dead until the moment the engine starts?

Yup, just because you changed under warranty extension doesn't mean it's a good unit, some fail after 2 months. They haven't changed the system just change with the same old parts. Except now supposedly it's on part together, fuel tank with pumps already in

Fuel pressure test is happening soon. Am thinking the check valve at the pump isn't doing its job. It sure isn't driving like it is starving for fuel, but if check valve is letting pressure out of the rail, that sure would make it harder to start when keyless.

also check and/or replace the Camshaft Position Sensor if the dampener doesn't solve it. I had the same problem, took 10min to replace and working fine since. it's located on the passenger side head.

I think I'll probably do the CAS and cam sensor, since I don't see when those were done last in the paperwork that came with the car. But replacing the pressure damper solved the keyless go fail as well as the lingering gas smell that's lurked around for the last couple weeks.
