I am very very confused with this thread. What is so special with folding mirrors?

Mercedes here all have folding mirrors as standard! Dont tell me the states's mercedes don't have folding mirrors?? It is ridiculous!

As for the convex mirror thing, is it the side mirror that makes object looks closer then it actually does?

Man, if the states really dont offer these two options, its really weird.

I'm like "ALL CARS of MERC on the road have these!" its basic option isn't it!? Or am I missing something here that I'm suppose to be looking at something else instead of the folding side mirrors?

I hate to say it, but it's true. Seems like MBZ rips off their American customers on a lot more things than you would think.

PLEASE!!! give me a break!!! The price of our BONESTOCK (cloth, manual seats - no phone wiring - no teleaid - no dimming mirrors - and so on) E200k equals the price of a US spec E55.

Now, who gets ripped off here? If anybody on this world is able to buy cars at a ridiculous low price - it is the american customer.

My question though is... Is the reason the benz is so cheap in the US in comparison to Europe bc of benz or because of the ridiculous VAT that each country adds to the cars? A big reason they are so expensive is because of those taxes charged by the governments to keep the engine size down and to make more money off luxury car buyers.

The reason prices are high in other countries is because of taxes. Same with fuel. Everyone pays relatively the same price for a barrel of oil, and refining is also a pretty fixed cost. Tax is why europeans lose out. People often compare the difference in gas prices but the fact of the matter is, Americans consume much more gas per capita than europe so even though we pay half as much for a full tank, we fill up nearly twice as often.

This discussion to boil down really quickly to a debate about USA vs European economics, but let's not let it go there. There are many other things in Europe that are cheaper than in the States, but there are also things in the States that are cheaper than in Europe.

YES...and the best part was that we were driving an empty G500 which has a bigger tank then most other MBs...

1.81USD per GALLON supreme...tax or no tax - that price simply rules.

We figured at the time that no one would believe the price... so we provide photographic evidence. OK, the tank wasn't QUITE empty but we had to fill it up because at that point gas stations were about 100 miles apart. Oh yeah, I have the receipt too.

I'll post the receipt too... it will have the city name, I am not sure where it was. Like Wofford Heights etc. The receipt has the date and address. But of course, it could be doctored... just like a newspaper could be!

Im looking into buying some power folding mirrors for my E55 can I find them at Mercedes and do they come with the new mirror controls for door panel or I have to replace the wood trim to one that fits the new controls anyones HELP would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!! THANKS
