I need new pads and front rotors, but I don't want to pay the price for factory MB parts. Any recommendations for "value" aka cheap, but good, pads and rotors? There have been no modifications made to this car -- it is factory original.
If you didn't want to pay for maintenance you shouldn't have bought a 80K car. Factory rotors for the E55 are dirt cheap. Akebono or EBC pads aren't bad either.

Why the smart-*** comment? Frankly, I'm not interested in whatever else you have to say.
When deciding to replace worn? brakes, one needs to be HONEST with one's real driving conditions. 99.9% of 'real world' driving is very moderate braking and excessive black dusting is annoying to many. However, 'initial bite' of the brake pads is strongly preferred because the brakes are seldom 'hot' . 'Track performance' is biased toward very hard braking with very HOT brakes, and initial 'bite' with cold brakes is not important. OEM brake pads are a compromise biased toward very good initial 'bite', low noise and smooth, linear and low effort pedal feel on moderate stops with cold brakes---because that is what most drivers prefer.. "Performance' brake pads are not the best for 'daily driving.' because they need to be HOT to have good 'bite.' and are noisy at low speeds, and need high pedal effort when cold.
Reading this post, made me laugh. Many new AMG owners don't know that AMG stands for "All Money Gone" Parts will be more costly for an AMG model then your typical Mercedes models.
And to be honest, front rotors for an E55 are definitely cheap as compared to the E63. The cheapest I paid for front OEM rotors was $700 for a set. And that was an outstanding.
And I found them on eBay of all places. The dealer quoted me $2130 per set, but they can be had for a lot cheaper if your willing to do the pricing research.
All said and done, I spent just under $1000 for a complete set of rotors/pads and wear sensors for my E63, to include carbon ceramic pads. And that was alright with me.
They are the best deal out there. I paired with the Akebono Ceramic pads, as I didn't need anything too aggressive. If I was needing an aggressive pad I would look at Pagid.
I purchased my front rotors from eBay, and bought the rears from AutohausAZ, with PowerStop Ceramic Pads. All in for about $1000.
And I do think that this will be the cheapest route to go for brakes.
Yeah parts are high but labor is cheap when you have family in the business. Lol
I wouldn't even consider owning one of these cars if I didn't have a friend that works at an indy shop. He does all my work on the side, usually for no labor as well. He rents from me and gets extremely cheap rent for this area, so it works out.

But a lot of us aren’t in your position. Your lucky.
My shop does give me discounts, and sometimes don’t charge for small jobs, but that’s it.
Go to FCP Euro purchase the Zimmerman rotrs and akebono pads and your done. Cheap too
One of the issues is that akebono doesn’t make pads for the E63’s front calipers, only the E55, which sucks as the akebono are excellent pads. But their are ceramic pads options for E63 owners. I use ceramic pads on my E63 and brake dust isn’t an issue any more. 😃

hello Yuille, I have 2015 E63 and dealer quoted me $1180 for rear pads and rotors today. I feel that price is excessive and I am willing to put in the work myself. Can you tell me what you think of these rotors from autohausAZ? https://www.autohausaz.com/pn/09A82211
I am uncertain due to the note that says "Rear ~ 360mm Diameter Cross-Drilled and Slotted Vented w/o AMG Ceramic Brakes"
I have to admit that I do not know what that "without AMG ceramic brakes" means. The calipers are painted red, does that mean these rotors are not for my model?
Thanks in advance!
