E63 Front rotors revisted

Hi all, not time yet but probably looking at front rotors for my 07 E63 next year. The parts sticky and several of the threads have dead links or out of date links so trying to get the latest info on whats available other than the OEM rotors. The best option I've seen so far is $800 for Brembo replacements. What other options are out there?

Thanks!
Eric

Girodisc and RacingBrake have been mentioned as this subject has been talked about before.

I'm currently around 95k miles and rotors are sill fine. What mileage are you at? Or did you wait too long to replace the pads and it started hitting the rotor itself? Just curious.

FYI I asked my indy and they quoted $1k for OEM rotors. I plan to go OEM when the time comes.

I only have 65K miles but just got the car. There are maybe 5-10K miles left on the fronts. All the OEM's I saw were 2K+ for the set. Can you send me the info on your Indy?

Thanks, Eric

Congrats - maybe the rotors are still the original ones? VMI + service history should tell you for sure.

$2K for the set sounds about right. My indy quoted $1k for one rotor. You know, like one rib. (

https://www.yelp.com/biz/campbell-me...rvice-campbell is my indy. Tom and Gary are great guys.

https://www.yelp.com/biz/mercedes-ex...y-inc-san-jose is also very good.

Wondering if anyone has tried these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/361841672898?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
They are $800 for the set.

I can vouch for the Brembo's being identical (Original Equipment) to Genuine Mercedes. I offer them in my brake kit featured here:

I installed these on my 07 E63 this summer, they are a perfect replacement for the oem rotors. I have maybe 2000 miles on them now with no issues. They also come with a lifetime warranty from FCPeuro. Why would you use anything else?

Your welcome, possible exception would be if you track your car you might want slotted and NOT drilled rotors, but for the street these are the best option.

yeah FCPEURO has somewhat changed the game. Lifetime warranty (that they definitely honor) on ALL parts. Even filters, wiper blades, etc. AND they price match the big names.

If there is another parts place that beats that policy, I sure would like to know about it

Throwing those exact rotors on the racecar this year. If they crack, you'll be the first to know...and it gives me a plausible excuse to find a vendor to make replaceable rings.

If you want to save money you can use the C63 W204 (Non perf-pack) single piece rotors. They are a direct fit and are fine for DD'ing, idk how they would hold up on the track or even canyon roads tho..They are also significantly heavier (and cheaper)

I have a retrofit kit here,
https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/mer...-trw-c63p30fbk
I have not added E63 applications to it yet however R6slayer is correct and the rotors are definitely heavier 36lbs vs 29. We were playing around with them in the office this morning and I'm definitely going to be sore tomorrow.

I thought the price didn't add up till I saw there were two rotors

For $1K I might have gone with the OEM rotors, but instead I bought the RacingBrake for $1300 w/pads. Just waiting for new rears to change them all at the same time.

My OEM fronts have 108,000 miles on them....we'll say they have seen better days. Still kills me that it was $1300 for the front "badass two piece" rotors and $160 for rotors and pads for the rear...ha

HUGE PIC WARNING

there is alot of info on brakes for the E63 - after alot of reading and youtube videos I ended up going with GiroDisc - kick *** set up all around -

Girodisc - designed and made in US
RB - designed in US - made overseas

What are the real-world disadvantages of going with this one-piece conversion for a daily-driver E63 that is never going to see a race track? The price difference is extraordinary.

Kyle,

Have many people done this conversion on E63's that you know of?

I only have about a dozen customers running the kit. We had to run single piece rotors on the track after we burned through the 2 piece ones over the weekend at Road Atlanta. They held up for a full day of racing. With that being said, neither rotor is truly track worthy.

I don't ever plan on tracking my car so I'm thinking this is a good way to go. Any reason not to?

FCPEURO: I pretty much now ONLY use you guys for parts. That said, my 2006 E55. The brake dust is killing me. (Front, almost zero in rear). Bought the car used and based on prior owners records, he most likely went OEM pads. Bite and feel (despite the questionable Benz EBC braking system) is good. Hauls the thing down IMMEDIATELY. But Im a street only driver and the type that keeps even the inside wheel barrels clean. Im looking to SIGNIFICANTLY reduce the dust but maintain the quietness. If I lose a bit of bite or a bit of heat capacity, Im ok with that.

Suggestions?

thanks

For the 8 piston cars, I have the Akebono Ceramics, PRICEY compared to semi metallic options but will cut down on the amount of dust. Also the dust they produce is a lighter color. They are located here:

Thanks for shopping with us!!
