UPGRADE 2007 w211 E63 AMG steering wheel
I really like the newer steering wheels designs, especially with flat bottom. Is it relatively easy to just buy newer steering wheel and swap it? Would it work without much of mods needed to be used? I tried to search the forum but found only E55 to E63 steering wheel upgrade thread.

E55 then E63, now back to an E55
Why don't you just buy a steering wheel from DCT MS (Ivan) and install that one? Dreams Come True Motorsports.
I think he is a forum vendor as well. But even if not - no worries!
You can customize the design to however you want, including with a flat bottom.
The product is absolutely top notch, and customer service is great. They fit just fine, simply tell him your year & vehicle... Have the E63 larger paddles added to the E55 wheel, etc...
Totally kick-*** steering wheels - I'd go that route. I was very pleased with the ones I've had in cars! Cheers

Oh, I see what you're trying to do (by the embedded ebay image)... Hmmm...
Unfortunately I don't know the answer to your question! I've no real world experience with this situation, and I'm sorry!
That said - honestly, I HIGHLY doubt that a newer wheel would fit an older car. Not in this day in age. Mercedes are complicated cars with lots of sensors, many different part numbers for fitment, etc - I simply do not see this as being a simple plug & play. If you have a good relationship with a dealer (specifically the techs there), I suggest you run it by them. Look at the diagrams of how all the wheels connect, and the plugs.
On another note - the DCTMS wheels are NOW $499 ?!?!
Unbelievable!! I paid $1300 each, WITH core exchange discount too, for a few wheels!! Crazy how price has fallen. But that was many years ago - when he was first kinda starting. Maybe 7-8ish years?
You new guys buying DCTMS wheels have it GOOD!!! LOL.
Happy motoring and good luck on your wheel quest my friend!

I don't think the W212 steering wheels will fit on W211 E63. I have the E63 steering wheel and it's much better then the original.
The only other option is the 2009 SL63 steering wheel.

The steering wheel on Ebay I showed before (which I bought since it was only $450 shipped) is a part number A 000 460 34 03, which is MERCEDES W205 W117 W176 W246. I will let you know. However, I'm open to know if w212 or other nice newer steering wheels would work.

+1 for Ledermanz. I bought a 3 spoke r230 steering wheel with extended paddle shifters and the rare V12 airbag for my 2006 SL65 for only 900 bucks. He's an ebay vendor

I believe he ALLEGEDLY changed a whole lot of stuff including the entire column and electrics.
BUT, I was a part of that discussion, and when we questioned him (numerous times), he vanished. So we called BS on that one.
There is no way that wheel would work. We have 8 button wheels, this is a 12 button, with back and OK.
Our COMAND's that ended with the NTG 2.5 did not support a 12 button wheel.
I fitted that exact wheel with modified buttons from a W218 CLS to a W204 C Class with a COMAND NTG 4 and lost 10 years of my life trying to get it to work.
So exchanged it for a C63 flat bottom wheel that I later fitted with a modified steering module to a W212.
