Good Deal???
A friend of mine is looking at a 2002 E55 with 21K miles on it fully loaded and the dealer is asking $55,000.
Also, I would assume the 2002 would be a very reliable year since it is the last year of the older body style. Are there any problem areas to look out for? Any feed back would be greatly appreciated.
I figured this was the best place to get this info.

Is the '02 Starmarked? Depending on the total mileage & # of years extension of the MB warranty, it is pretty close $$$ wise. When I wanted an E55, I looked for an '01 or '02. This would get me into the most evolved of the NA E55s that were hand built by AMG in Affalterbach(sp). I got a Comand/voice-activated phone. I ended up paying $28K below MSRP and have 100K Starmark warranty until Sept. 2008. It is a super solid, very fast (traded in a Z06 for it) and good handling uber sedan. I can get my speed "fix" without the undue attention that the Z06 caused. Who cares about going after a gray 4-door?

Hey guys thanks again for the input...after doing a little looking I found one cheaper on Auto Trader with fewer miles. But this one does seem to be priced pretty fair.

Starmarked Certification will probably add at least $5k to the price at a Mercedes Dealer.
No inherent problems with the car, just quirks like rattling headliner and sunshade and sunroof when open.

Also, with a car as complex as an E55, the Starmark Cert. let's you sleep better at night. Simple low price (with no warranty) can come back to bite you later on. Then it gets into REAL $$$ and can make resale much harder. Been there, done that. No fun.
