W211 Timing Chain
Happy 2017 fellow AMG enthusiasts. I have a question regarding the timing chain and guides in our cars (W211 K's). I'm only asking because my brother has a BMW with the 4.4 V8 and had experienced a very expensive headache due to his timing chain guides. It appears his guides have parts literally breaking off. What a mess!
Are our cars prone to these failures? I've not read any incidents on this board or any others and wonder if anyone on this board has had one fail or heard of any related failures.
My guess is it's very expensive to change as a preventative item, but may be necessary. I did read some years of the W210 E55 had issues with the timing chains, but not ours.
Thanks for any inputs!

I would think with the age of our cars we would know if it was a problem by now...like the fuel tank, Airmatic, and SBC. Glad to know I can scratch that off my list. Thanks.

Only early W124's with M119 V8 (400E , 500E) had chain stretch and guide issues sometimes. A non issue with modern M112 and M113 V8's
