Opinions on black headlights
About to install my suveneer 63 front end and realize my stock lights are too rough to reuse. The lenses are trashed and mounting brackets are broken. My car is pewter and want to do a chrome delete with a black grill. Also powdercoating my HREs satin black with gloss black lips. While searching ebay for a set of facelift style headlights I came across these. Basically a blacked out e63 style light. They are cheap so Im not expecting oem quality but dont want them to look cheap. Opinions?

I would google them and see if you can find a review. They look good but may not last long if your car is out in the elements.

Not a fan at all, they make the car look 'riced' out a bit. This car has kinda goofy looking lights. but the black housings will make them look really out of place.

Wouldn't that affect the light output? Lighting is a safety issue, why make things worse? The night is dark and full of terrors.

The light output of the projector is not affected with the black housing. Ricey is definitely not the look I am going for. There are a few cars out there with black headlights that donot look ricey IMO.

I had to get the front bumper re-done, so I sent the lights out to a place in CA to blackout the chromie parts. Here's the result

Black headlights look awful and very ricey. The murdered out look does not go well on mb's. They look good on audis and bmw though. You can try it but, It cheapens the car. MB's a more classy, it needs the little chrome accents. I suggest you get a new set of 63 style headlights.

Im only 33 so I hope Im not at mid life crisis stage yet. Almost all cars depreciate, So what cars are you saying look good "murdered out"? Like you said to each his own but I have always liked the black wheel, black trim and carbon accent combo. My Car is just a toy that I barely drive. Just trying to have fun with it.

Of the pics posted above, the black headlights seem to look ok on dark colored cars, where they blend in, but stick out like a sore thumb on light colored cars.
Good god, the term "murdered out" rubs me the wrong way. Can't say why except 5 years ago everything was "murdered out". That and the name is just stupid.

well you asked for opinions so: I would replace with E63 style and avoid the black head lights especially on the lighter colored cars. I also don't care for blacked out wheels. Again just my preference I know others love the look. Also its your car so have fun with it but realize your best and easiest resale will be stock or stock like.

Im not even thinking about resale. Everyone knows that resale on these cars is terrible. I went ahead and ordered e63 style lights just to make life easy. I figure if I decide to go with the black look down the road out look I can just open them up and paint them.

Is there a thread of how to disassemble without screwing them up? Yours almost look like they are carbon fiber instead of just painted black. I really do not like all the chrome in the headlights. Looks like cheap plastic...but everyone has an opinion...what looks good to one may not look good to another
Thanks... Mick

I am sure there is one somewhere, but I just removed the bulbs, seal, and exterior clips. Baked them @200 degrees for 20 minutes. Then carefully pried them apart. It is not a difficult job. It just takes time.
I disassembled them originally to install new projector lenses. I wiped the chrome, and it fell off. That is why mine are black now. It was not my intent to do so, but I like it now. It is better than chrome in my opinion. Opinions are like a$$holes. Everybody has one.

Do they plug in just fine on 03-06 as the 07+ have different wiring for those using them ? Quite a few sold
My car is an '06 with HID & active

I just bought the ones u posted Unfortunately they do not plug and play with the leveling and active system. Now i have to return them and it seems my only option is to take them apart and do it myself. Is there a thread on here step by step?
What do u have to take off before u put them in the oven
