if you change the whole "assembly" then yes, you need to take that trunk panel off.. the 8mm srews allmost every time just start to spin in the plastic and you just have to get them off with the method you choose.. once you have them off there are plastic rivets that are very hard and break when taking off. a little time consuming and anoying
