I have already posted this in the W211 E-class forum, but for those who don't get over that way, paint code 753- Tectite Grey will be replaced for MY05. They are introducing a new color called Flint Grey and the color code will be 368. So, if anyone wants to get Tectite, I would suggest they do so quickly!!

Hopefully it will be somewhere in between tectite and pewter.. or just a pewter without the gold. How many grey/silver colors are there now, 13?

that one already exists, its called granite, available on the E-class, possibly others.

as for flint im sure it will be very close to the current tectite. lexus has a Flint Gray Mica for thier LS430. its a dark metallic gray much like MB's current tectite. so dont fret.

Ha..it just gets interesting...Im expecting a call within a couple of weeks to try to verify my 05 E55 order with my dealer...maybe he will some info on this, as I asked for Tectite Grey..

Sorry to bringing up a thread that is 4 years old. Since 04 was the last year for e55 in Tectite Grey Metallic color. Is Flint Grey the same as old one? I can't find a good picture to see the difference between two.

I think the two colors are close but not definetely not identical. I believe Oldgixxer, Jon2007E63P30, and a couple of members have that color on their E63. You should see some pictures of their cars if you run a search or you can PM them directly.

Colors are very different. Tectite was a lot darker. I liked it way better.

Hmmm....... I haven't seen Tectite Grey in person, but have briefly seen a couple of pictures online a while back, and the colors seemed somewhat close, but again I could've been misled by the images

I had originally ordered a tectite E55 but ended up with the first Flint one in the US. Tectite is much more towards a gray charcoal, where as Flint might even have a blueish hue in some lighting. I personally appreciated the difference in person more, and had dozens of compliments on the color alone.

i had a SL55 in tectite...was the only one in the uk at the time. Was made specially for Ron Dennis of Mclaren by Amg. It was beautiful as well.

When mb 'facelifted' the SL and put widescreen nav in etc, he ordered another one, exactly the same, and i ended up buying his old one.

It was beautiful, however, showed stone chips and cleaning swirls real bad, which flint doesnt, so i prefer flint for that reason....

would say though,when it was detailed, it looked absolutely stunning, especially set off against type 4's.

i regret ever getting rid of it.
