W211 E55 Owners, What Sports Cars Have You Beaten?

Just curious to hear about the stories of shocked or impressed Z06, Ferrari, Lambo, Turbo 911... owners.

i was on 280 south in the bay area near san francisco a 04 911 c4s on my left and a 03 or 04 m3 (couldnt tell). they were in a pack together with some other bmws and mercedes. i slowly sped up to 90 then 100 both cars matching the speed then i got tired of them and floored it(about 140) they tried to keep up but after 7-10secs they were just some xenons way back.

Stay away from SF

Now I know why I am terrified everytime I come to San Francisco. Too many E55 owners prowling for the unsuspecting. And I thought the taxi drivers were dangerous...

I know you asked for sports car stories, but has anyone else out there been "challenged" by insultingly slow cars?

I've been amazed at some of the people who want to challenge a 490+ hp V8....like a Ford F150 pickup (drugs?), Audi TT, Infiniti G35, Mazda (couldn't even tell what kind), BMW 7 series, etc.

The E55 is long on stealth.

A pickup truck, the first day I took it to work. Tried to beat me 2 lanes going into 1. Even in the break in period I had to nail it just enough to leave him behind. My wife said I should have just let him go and not stressed out. I told her it's far more stressful in the long run to be blown away by pickup trucks.

If I have to be mature in the instance of letting some jackass get the best of me, then id rather be childish and put some spice in my drive.

Not with the vmax (?) chip delimiting top speed

NYRS6 re rs6 and m5

Having owned an RS6 and M5 and now an E55 I will tell you that the E55 is substantially faster than either one. I've road tested each one on the same "test strip" of highway on several occasions so this conclusion is not subjective. From a complete stop the rs6 and m5 are fairly close but the e55 is very noticeably faster and this can be substantiated by quarter mile times. Where the real significant difference can be seen is if you had all 3 cars going at 70mph and then went to wot. The e55 accelerates much faster once its underway and the rs6 or m5 would be losing significant ground very quickly!

The engine/speed limit was the first to be removed from the ECU

I'd of thought the E55 would walk the 360 by multiple car lengths 30-100. Still cool that they get away from such exotics.

well, i'm sure that the distance would have been greater if he didn't get the jump, and if MB didn't have that throttle delay. He was ahead, but was quickly reeled in and passed. It was impressive how quickly this occured, since 30-100 is a very short time in these cars ......
