second key..... any dealer I can get them from?
So I am fine sending a pic of registration and ID
is there a dealer online I can order a key from the local dealer is an hour drive away and wants $500 for a key, $330 for a key and $165 for programming plus tax...... Oh and I have to go there twice of course.
I read on other threads here about people getting them for 190-250 at there dealership is there one I can order from?
2006 e55 with keyless go, it was working great till the key got washed, dried then washed again.....

Key needs to be programmed and car has to be there to do that. No short cuts that I'm aware of, just have to suck it up. FYI that's the same quote I got just last week.

Read EIS from car ignition to get key hash set that matches to key
Read Factory Key Hash set then duplicate to new key that matches EIS
Aftermarket process is here and uses aftermarket software/hardware to read/write similar to what the dealer does

For my recent new key, it came "programmed" but didnt actually lock/unlock the doors right away. The parts guy put the key in the ignition and the dash said something along the lines of "Please wait while the car does some magic...". After 5 minutes of that I gave up, went home with the old key, put the new key in and let it try again. About 30 to 60 minutes later the car "learned" the new key and all has been well.
There was nothing that the dealer actually did with my car other than what I mentioned. In fact, the parts guy warned me that the process has taken as long as a few hours in the worst cases and suggested I just head home and let it do its thing. He was correct.
That was my experience. Note: $370 total, no labor charged, invoice was just for the part. Have push to start on the shifter in case that matters (the parts guy asked me but don't know if it's relevant).

ok The local parts guy ordered the key for me $330 and gave it to me but they had forgot to schedule an appointment to program it.
I took the key and put it in the ignition no words or anything on the dash
The remote functions on the key worked pretty quick, lock, unlock, trunk open, and even the door handle keyless go functions work like normal. The key will not turn in the ignition and the car will not start with the button
I talked to the service manager and he said to just put it in and out a few times it may take an hour or so. that is all they do to program them, but it usually says something on the dash.
so I took the car home, key has been in and out of the ignition several times and sat in there overnight etc. The old key will still start it but no remote functions work.
anythings to try before I take it to the dealer?

You've done all that you can, the key must be programmed by Mercedes for all the functions to work. When I bought my new key, it was programmed to my vehicle when it arrived.

What part number did they order? It seems kind of cheap for a KG key unless they discounted it. That's about the price for a non-KG key. It doesn't always says something on the dash, but if the key is reading the old key data in situations where you ordered a dupe key cancelling out another key it will have to learn everything from the old key first. Usually key battery LED indicator light will be on during this process while plugged into the EIS. Usually if a next available key is ordered it fires right up. Additional programming is usually for the keyless go functions to work. If the service manager said that there is no programming just have them fix it. The key is under warranty anyways and they probably wont even charge you since there is "no programming"

paperwork is at my office but the number on the key is 631 6443
counter guy was cool, he was at 370 but I told him I called earlier and they said $330 so he made it $330 with tax (that was my recollection of the call)
when I called they did not mention programming, the other dealers did and when I was at the counter they didn't mention it either, when I picked it up the other counter guy mentioned it.
Ill call and take it back in and say please and thank you and see where it gets me

That's exactly how it usually goes at the dealer, keys can get a little complicated and finding someone who knows the right answer for every situation is usually not an easy task. Dealers order hundreds of keys month and receive large volume of key calls so instead of looking it up they just give generic prices of the top of their head without asking questions. Sorry I could check if the key is correct, but I would need the part# off the invoice, not off the key since that is not the part number. If you are polite like you are saying and speak with the manager they might take care of it no charge.

ok so they ordered another key and its not working either, They say the EIS, electronic ignintion switch is bad and that its $1200 for the part. and that it is theft related so I can't just get a used one.
does this sound correct? Thats alot of dough for a push button

That was my thought, but they are saying the EIS is messed up in that it will work but not program a new key
it does jive with that the dash did not say programming a key or any stuff like that.

I just got the car back from the dealer man I missed it . They say they need to replace the EIS use a blue key to reprogram it and then the new key I ordered, my old key, and the extra key they ordered will all work for $1250. trying to decide how much I really want the push to start button to work.
when I use the push to start button, the new key fob that does not turn flashes....
