Attn: T-Bone!
Loved your Sat. Radio install! I'm taking my car in Thurs to have my radio installed. Do you have any picts of your mounting bracket underneath your rear window deck?
It would be a big help to my tech guy...
Any help you could give me would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Tony
I see you have an E-55 with Renntach upgrade? What Renntech mods did you do and how noticeable were the upgrades in performance. I'm in West Palm and looking to go with Renntech. Thanks for your input.

Other people chimed in too.

I also got the Renntech steering wheel:
and the Renntech rear spoiler:
Here is the antenna. It is on the left side. If you take a look underneath the rear deck you will see where it went. You can see the wire that leads to it. This wire had to be rerouted from the trunk lid back into the trunk itself.
Here are two more from different angles.

A hole had to be drilled into the metal to mount the antenna. I have black felt tape that covers the wires, but I removed it for the photos. The wires are zipped tied together.
As you can tell it's a HUGE *** antenna. I could never mount this on my trunk. It would just be an eye sore to me. I'm not sure how people will get used to it being on the trunk lid. I'm glad I don't have to.

Reception is great. An amazing selection of stations.
Reception is only lost when something blocks the antenna from the sky. As long as the antenna has a direct line of sight to the sky, then there are no problems. Like I mentioned before it has a buffer of a few seconds to allow you to travel under bridges and large trees without the signal being lost.

Had my Sirius radio installed today, per your installation method...works great!
My dealer was so impressed with your method, he said that all future E class installs will be done that way. (he hated the idea of drilling into the trunk lid too)
Thanks T-Bone!

Labor was $250 (I'm pretty sure I got hosed) 5 billable hours
Too much for a radio they'll be giving away in two years!
P.S. Love the new wheels BTW!
