E63 x-pipe
I am not looking for more power, and I want my car to remain "refined" but I would like to hear the V8 a bit more when accelerating. I wondered if anyone here has replaced the center resonators with an x-pipe like the one pictured? Noticeable improvement in sound? But still quiet when cruising? Comments?

I left the resonators and replaced the 2nd cats with an x-pipe. The result was considerable roar under acceleration but with that uniquely-german V8 note. I was afraid that the difference between a pushrod muscle car and the AMG was in fact the resonators so I left them.

I am having problems finding a vendor that offers an x-pipe similar to the one pictured in the first post.
I want to replace the resonators only. I do NOT want to remove cats. Does anybody sell a kit to replace the resonators only or do they have to be CUT out? the x-pipe pictured in post 1 appears to be bolt-on, but I am not sure it that is even possible with a 2014 E63S......
Any help appreciated.
I realize the above may be specific for the W211.....but figured I would ask.

I received a PM asking for details of the above pictured X pipe. I think I found it on ebay? But I never purchased it. So if anyone has information or details on this or a similar X pipe please chime in. Thanks

I just checked and there is not. If you come across a smog tech that knows these cars you're SOL. If they don't know what they're looking at it they may not notice.
It is not 100% smog legal though since you're removing emissions equipment.

Ok I could easily be wrong, but it was my understanding that the X pipe pictured replaced only the resonator not the cats.

the resonator is too far back to properly make use of an X-Pipe. also it would be rather pointless as the secondary cats contain a crossover balance pipe, almost like an H-Pipe but not

In his post he was saying to remove the secondary cats and put it there. I don't disagree with that, except that the car technically is not CA smog legal after doing that.

I have this x-pipe on my CLS63. I also have the link of where to purchase it. Feel free to PM me for it. It makes the car slightly louder, but don't expect a significant sound increase. The quality is nice and the "bolt-in" factor is fantastic.
