With these headers, there will be a CEL due to the deletion of the cats. A tune would get rid of the CEL and optimize the headers for your vehicle. In short, yes, I would recommend getting a tune.
Thanks,
I'm EC tuned, 180mm cp, high flow fitlers, and no cats or res.
Without a re-tune will I see power gains? Curious.
Do these cats lower IAT without a tune, and with a tune respectively? In other words, I heard that mids + tune cancel out any cooling benefit, word of mouth in the facebook group not sure how true it is.

The only thing to lower IAT's would be cooling mods or decreasing boost. I dont think installing headers will lower IAT's but it will create more air flow to have exhaust pressure (heat) escape more freely.

If they only check for a CEL, the tune can code that out and you'll pass.
Finally, if your state has a sniffer test, well, you're out of luck.
This updated test uses the diagnostic capabilities of the vehicle's computer system instead of the traditional tailpipe probe to measure the vehicle's emissions. This On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) system gathers information and determines if the vehicle's emission control systems are operating properly. A visual inspection of emission control components is still required as well.
The OBD only method of testing vehicles is the result of 2010 legislation (AB 2289-Eng) which is designed to improve the Smog Check Program and further reduce air pollution. The Smog Check program removes hundreds of tons of smog-forming pollutants from California's air every day.
Gasoline-powered vehicles model-year 1999 and older will continue to receive Smog Checks using a tailpipe probe as well as the OBD test.

I ALSO have these headers from Eurocharged and have to pass the obd2 readiness test. This works well w/ no issues. Mount your rear o2 sensors out of the exhaust stream use a spacer welded into the bung or a 90 degree spacer type connection. The tune normally codes out the rear 2 sensors. Jerry gave me a second tune with rear sensors on. All o2 sensors were ready with this tune and passed. With all 4 on no CEL. I have 100 cell race cats that I was told would probably set a CEL, so I mounted the rear o2s of the exhaust stream which works fine. These headers IMO are a good bang for the buck.
