Pano Roof Issue
Hey guys, wondering if you could provide guidance. I searched the threads but couldn't find anybody with a similar issue.
My 2007 E63, has a Pano roof and when I don't use the roof for x number of days it won't work. sunshade works, but when i attempt to tilt or slide the roof it just clicks once and does nothing. like the motor is being activated but stops. like the motor is pushing with resistance as you hear the motor fighting but no movement. that electrical noise when you've reached the end of something.
BUT...if i try again randomly another time or day, it'll work fine. additionally if I use it once a week or once every 2 weeks i don't have this issue. it usually occurs when i go more than 1 month without using it, or if my car has been sitting not driven for 2 weeks straight.
thoughts? i think my motor is on its last legs.

The drive motor gearing has a bushing that wears out and the motor drops and the gearing doesn't make complete contact. You need to snug the motor up to the Pano roof gearing or you are going to strip the gear off. There is a YouTube on how to add a simple washer to snug it up if you search some

After I sprayed Sillicone to lubricate the rails, shade cover won't close + grinding
Hello everyone,
I just regret lubricating my Panoramic sunroof with Sillicone spray, now the shade does not close anymore, and now there is a gear grinding noise coming from the front once roof is closed until button is released,
any idea how to rectify, and if any instruction on how to lubricate the panoramic sunroof and what to use.
thanks in advance

Your sunshade issue I cannot help with as I do not know, the grinding noise has already been explained above though... there are many videos on youtube explaining how to fix it. Spend an hour at most watching the sunroof motor repair videos for w211 and how to calibrate it and perhaps you can fix both issues at once.
I will watch the video, I also heard about a PDF on how to do it as well, if you have it please send it to me to dennis_drew@hotmail.com
Thank you

The other answer sounds like a much better solution, however.

Mine is broke too, I just wasn't going to bother with it until I perused your thread and read it could be fixed with washers, so I decided to look it up. I believe this is probably the winner.
Edit: Re-reading your initial post, I'm not sure if this is actually YOUR issue. This is exactly what mine does, it gets stuck and any time you press the button you just hear the gear jumping and making a clicking/grinding noise. You said yours makes only ONE click and then just does nothing? If that's the case I don't think it's the same issue. Sounds to me like the motor may have a torque limiter or something and you may want to look into greasing up your track, or maybe your motor is going bad. Just guesses but I really don't think its the same issue sorry

I just completed this fix, worked like a charm. Only thing I'd add to the instructions in the video is re-seating the mirror. You can look up and see the rectangular recess it seats into, angle one side into the recess, then reach up with something(I used my long T-20) and push on the other side to seat it. You will not be-able to push on the mirror with your hands to re-seat.

TBH it really was not coming off, i pulled HARD at every angle and nothing. I ended up just hitting the two clips towards the mount on the rear view mirror and moving that whole center unit out of the way and let it hang there. This way I didn't have to fuss with getting the mirror back on. Pano is fixed. Thanks again guys

-Bright interior (especially when black seats)
-perfect during summer for speeds upto 90km (above it gets too noisy IMO)
-cools down interior quickly in hot weather (especially if you use "convenient opening" or whatever it's called. IE push and hold unlock bottin on key).
Just don't forget to close it when you park!
never had any squeaking but all of my previous pano roofs ( 2008 C, 2011 E coupé, 2014 E) would sometimes
open by itself again after closing. (I guess it's got something to do with the safety where the roof thinks something is blocking it)
So far this has not happened on my w213

I se what you mean now :-)
I scrolled too far down in this thread https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...pano-roof.html
which brought me to the "related thread" underneath it.

bumping in case anybody else has dealt with this and has a solution.
one thing to mention is, if i ever remove the battery terminal for any type of service my panoramic roof stops working. when i press the button, i hear the motor? click upon button press. if i keep trying to use the pano over the next few days, eventually the panoramic function will begin moving again. same goes with the vent function.

He mentions a second one but it's pretty darn inaccessible.
