Ambient light in rear view mirror

Ambient light in rear view mirror
I'm swapping out all my interior lights to cool LED.
I decided not to worry about the ambient lighting because I know that they're not "bulbs", and because I have the ambient lighting set to '0'
But...there is an ambient light that isn't controlled by that setting menu, it's in the centre of the rear view mirror, between the reading lights. It glows very faintly at night down onto the gear shifter.
Does anyone know if this can be replaced? And why isn't it controlled by the ambient settings?

As long as you're at it, are you going to change the ultra dim lights that gently illuminate the door release handles?
(just stirring the pot, don't mind me...)
