Getting 20% leak down on a cold motor not in a car and 2 cylinders i see are getting near 30% does that seem ok in the 20% range? going to retest the two 30% cylinders once again see if the results are any better, this is a motor i just purchased seller said to try with a little trans fluid to see if i get better results on the two 30% cylinders? he says the motor has been sitting on the shelf for more than 6 months so the rings tend to seize a bit

I'm using a matco tester if it matters, i asked for a leak down test and he did a compression test and said all numbers are within 5-10% of each other, anyone do a leak down on their 113k have any numbers? the motor was cold maybe that would play a role why it was so high of a percentage?

I would pull apart any suspicious or even just unknown history engine regardless of mileage. New head gasket, inspect all bearings, new head bolts, check for warping and main seals. Couldn't be easier while it is out.
