OEM Backup Camera?
Guys, do any of you have an OEM backup camera in your W211's?
I cannot find one or even what one looks like...
If you do, please may I request you for a picture of it and a picture of the screen whilst reverse is engaged please?
Much obliged!

If your car is a 2007-2008, you cannot add a backup camera to the factory headunit. The NGT1 US headunit doesn’t not support an external source. So you will either have to get a Euro headunit ($$$), upgrade to NTG2 ($$$$), or swap out your headunit to an aftermarket one.

I could be wrong, but I dont believe there was an OE option. Maybe the 2009 that had the newer head unit? Back up cameras are nice. But like others said, not a simple add on with the w211.

Thank you for the replies.
I have an aftermarket head unit as I couldn't live with the limitations of the APS.
It DOES have a backup camera but is absolute s#*t. Therefore i wanted to put in an OEM camera for the fitment, coverage and clarity.
Almost all the aftermarket cameras are rubbish.

how could I check if my head unit has an external source?

I'd have to agree with this. The one I have is suitable as far as resolution (not great but suitable), but it's a square shaped thing hanging off of my license plate light bracket. Very aesthetically hideous. I think the only aesthetically decent option on the W211 is something custom.

I have the Pearl Auto rear license plate frame back up camera. Works well, connects to my iPhone. I love the simplicity of the install and connectivity. But it has its limitations.

Back up camera weren't mandatory for the US market until 2010-2011, so this doesn't apply to the 2007-2009 W211 platform unless it was a European model.

If you truly want a backup camera, there are options out there.
Go to a high end Audio Shop, they can install one using your rear view mirror.
I'm pretty confident they can find a solution for you.
