Feedback on Pewter Silver

Since my 05 E55 is no longer available in Tectite Grety and Flint Grey won't be available until full production in September, I am down to two colors I like, Brilliant Silver and Petwer Silver. Has anyone seen the Petwer on a E55 in person? Do you like it? Brilliant Silver is a safe choice but seems like everyone has a silver car. I'm just looking for some feedback as I have to get back to the dealer with a color choice in the next few weeks.

Thanks!

pewter is probably one of the most amazing colors on the E55 IMO. I would say go for that with charcoal leather!!

2002 E55, Brilliant Silver/Charcoal and Grey, All option except Parktronic.
I have seen a Pewter E55 in the galleria area here in Houston. It was very nice. It was a good match for the lines and aggressive stance of the E55. I am going with Granite Grey just to be different as I am seeing more and more of the Pewter MBs.

I might do Bordeaux with the Merlot inserts, not sure yet. I just wish they had some other two tone interior options.

I don't think that you can go wrong with the Pewter and I really like it better than the Brilliant Silver. The W211 744 is the same as every other MB 744 car. I really like my W210 744 because it is a different color (sprayed at AMG?) than any other 02 MB. Best of luck either way you chose.

I'm biased...

I previously had a silver e320, and needed a change. I went for a 2004 e55 pewter/charcoal/burl walnut combo. It is much more distinctive than the silver. But, then again I'm biased. My second choice was that orange e55....(JK)

I've got pewter (see pics under "new owner" thread) and I think it's by far the best looking color for this car. All personal opinion, but I just love it.

Thanks mjc123. The pictures look like they were taken at dusk which makes it hard to see the true color (silver has so many hues). Do you or can you post some other pictures in the bright sun light? I am leaning towards Petwer as I love the color and believe it is close to my M5 Sterling Grey. I just want to make sure but will be happy with any color. Thanks much.

Asking other people's opinions on colors, in my opinion, is kind of pointless. Everyone has different tastes, that's why so many different colors are offered. I don't care much for the pewter color. Then again, I'm sure there's some people who don't care much for the Platinum Blue color that my E500 is in. But that's the beauty of it - different strokes for different folks. If everyone got the same color, how boring would that be? Get whatever color YOU like. Good luck, and enjoy your new ride, whatever color it ends up being.

send me your e-mail address and i will send you a picture of my Pewter 2004 E55 next to my 2004 Granite Grey E500. I love Pewter but to be honest I may be selling the car to a family member and my replacement E55 would most likely be Flint Grey! But I would get Pewter on Black/Metlot (like my car) for it truely is a great combo.

Good luck.

P.S. Everyone has a Silver AMG so I like to be different!

I agree with Kyee. It promotes an interesting conversation, but it can't truly provide help. But as a Gemini who tortures himself over the simplest decisions I can understand.

Lindross, I would go take a personal look at Pewter since I don't think it is that close to the BMW Grey. The Pewter has some brown in it.
CynCarvin, I would like to see that picture as well.

2004 E55 tectite grey/charcoal
The MB dealer near me has several pewter cars, very nice color IMHO. The dealer told me that 90% of the cars they sell are either black or silver which is why I am looking for a different color. My dealer still says the netstar printout for my order shows a mid May build date with delivery in late June or early July and it still shows that I am getting a 2004 model in Tectite grey so who knows. I keep expecting them to call me anytime and tell me that Tectite is no longer available. Lindross you said you sent an E-mail to MB. Who exactly did you send it to. I would like to find out for sure whether I am getting 2004 or 2005 and if I need to pick a different color.

Thanks for your comments. Your dealer should be able to tell you if your order met the 04-05 cut-off date. Mine was to be built in May with delivery in June. The dealer notified me a few weeks back this was turned into an 05 and I was first in line with a delivery in late July.

Below is the MB rep who responded to my web inquiry. My dealer validated that Tectite was not longer available last week.
