M156 Rev Happy?
Hey guys - I do an unfortunate amount of commuting in my E63. It takes me about an hour to get 10 miles in the AM then same story again in the PM. A lot of stop-and-go and a lot of that BS wher your not really on the gas but also not really on the brake ever. It seems like the car hates this! Then the weekend rolls around.. and all of us AMG owners know the weekend means hard pulls and spirited driving!!! It seems like the car LOVES this. Has anyone else noticed this? Does the M156 like to be revved out every once in a while? I know there are some engines (think Porsche) that can actually be damaged by being permanently babied. Its not like there is anything wrong per se when I am commuting, it just seems to idle a little rougher and make a little more engine noise. Is this placebo effect or is it actually the case?
Anyway on a side note, what amazing cars these are! I have had this car for a few years now and it still blows me away. Puts a smile on my face everyday. It is hard (nearly impossible) to believe you can have one of these cars in great condition and well maintained for +/- $20K. I dont think you can buy any more car for that kind of money..

If you're in a lot of stop and go and like to ride it hard when you get the chance, make sure you reset all adaptations often. Parts wear out car needs to re adapt, the longer you go between resets the less adaptable it becomes as it interpolates between setpoints. So to put it in perspective, my car had adaptations for some maybe 7-8k miles, since I bought it basically. Mbworld member seanol suggested I reset it and it solved my lean codes as well because guess what? It resets fuel trims. I upgraded my headers without resetting the ECU and it lead to issues that I banged my head against a wall trying to fix.
Sneaky ECU reset simply resets tranny adaptations from what I have read, so you want to either disconnect the main battery for 30 minutes OR do it with star (no idea how)
It's good stuff. A lot of the time **** can be solved by: physically hitting it (my AC blower fan for example) and turning it on and off (ECU/battery disconnect)
