E55 Engine Oil Dipstick?
Hey all,
My car came with no dipstick and I imagine the factory expects us to always use the oil sender to check oil level. Is there a part number I can use to put a real mechanical dipstick in here?
I got one that fit other application M113, but something about the Kompressor variant made it not fit, possibly different oil pan, I haven't spend any time cross referencing part numbers on EPC StarTek.
Figured I'd ask here if there's is a piece of documented wisdom to be found here.
Cheers

A couple things:
- that's the transmission dipstick
- how do you know that's what the now-expired links in the old thread mention?
- I am looking for an OE-style dipstick to remain in the tube that also seals it, but I'll settle for one that only measure the level
I already have the transmission dipstick tool.

not sure there is one you can leave in it,, this thing has a split pan/two sumps so I don't know how you would get a good reading - just have to make sure there is nothing moving or rotating where the dip stick would be -- I think many would prefer a real one also if possible
not sure if you can leave the trans dip stick in while driving either ?

There wasn't a dipstick from the factory, nor have I come across someone offering one. The car has the oil level sensor, so generally that is well enough for most people. The only time at a dealership where it would need to be physically measured via a dipstick or weight is during an oil consumption test. Are you getting oil level warnings on in your cluster? If you have access to an SDS to check the oil level in the modules, its still utilizing the oil level sensor with a min and max "millimeter" level when warm.

It's an old habit yes, but as long as you aren't seeing any warning for low oil, no puddles of oil under the car and you regularly change your oil, I wouldn't worry about it.
