I've always used an optical pickup device to obtain RPM with the M113k motor. I'll be going to a different dyno facility this time and they do not have the optical pickup device available that I'm used to using.
Exactly where do you obtain a tach signal from on these motors when tuning on a dyno? If available, a picture would help immensely.
Does it have a be on a specific coil (ex: 1, 5, etc) and which color wire is it? I've tried in the past but was unable to get a smooth/reliable signal from doing this. Perhaps I was using the wrong coil?

i always do number 1 and u put it around the spark plug wire not the coil wire
So here's what I have when standing in front of the engine. The is looking at the passenger side first coil, which I believe is #1? Does the tach pickup get attached to the wire under the shielding circled in green, or one of the 3 wires circled in red that are on top of the coil pack? The 3 wires on top of the coil pack are solid black, black/geen, and black/pink.
