I would think than running a fixed pulley and than say a UPD torque converter that is 10lb's lighter would make a very big difference. I know first hand that a lighter converter makes a huge difference on engine response. Taking drag away from the blower is doing the same thing.
To bad I can not run the fixed in how I race. I need to have that clutch off when waiting to run.

It all depends on your Cooling modifications.

Couple of questions. I would really appreciate it if anyone running this setup can give some input. I have 2 m113k cars. want to play with pulley and tune on at lease one of them. both car have heat exchanger upgrade, split cooling and 010 pumps.

1. How is the tune working out for the Clutch delete pulley? I read other post that fixed pulley have hesitation in the tune. Has this been worked out? Im asking because as great as the pulleys are. If the tune isnt working well it is rather useless.

2. How are you guys putting up with the supercharger rattle & whine? it is tolerable? or annoying in anyway?

Thanks for your input.

Dont waste your time. We have the fastest e55 in the world, doesn’t have a fixed pulley. We have the highest power e55 with factory blower, doesn’t have a fixed pulley. You want issues, get a fixed pulley.

Also have someone explain and prove any of the advantages of a fixed pulley?

no clutch explosion would be one advantage, boost at 800 rpm would be two,,, as far as speed goes probably no difference but screwing around town i think would be more fun as response/boost is immediate

I’ve never seen a pulley explode, in working on Mercedes for the last 10 years. Fixed pulley, heat heat heat heat heat. Yes I seen some bearings go out. You know the clutch locks up pretty instantly right?

Early versions of the UPD 83 can turn into sawzalls. Sometimes the springs fail on the original pulley too

Good thing I didn’t see my clutched pulley explode...was pulling pulley out to exchange for a fixed. Needless to say I escaped a catastrophe. 😯

I also found a pulley failure. The dog bone rivet started to stretch out the hole. This was a 76mm pulley that came with one of my M113k cars. the clutch disk started to become off center. I went back to a stock pulley.after.

you guys are aware of what these superchargers sound like with a fixed pulley, correct? Sounds like marbles in a tin can, not very Mercedes-like at all

Also last time I checked, all of the fastest 113k cars run clutched pulleys. Fixed pulleys are trash!

Let’s see VRP post some air intake temps, and some actual date on why to even use a fixed pulley.
