Mrs. Chill really liked the car since it was introduced, so when I saw an ad in the local paper from dealers practically giving it away, we went in and made an impulse buy. We really like the car but hard acceleration from stop causes the engine to rev fairly high while the 5 speed tranny shifts late sometimes and early other times. It may be a tranny malfunction which will be checked out pretty soon. It may be just a characteristic of the car which would be somewhat annoying.
The hard top is nice but requires 2 adults to add or remove it. The car is a lot of fun to drive and is relatively quick but is really a cruising machine. The quality of the fit, finish and paint is actually pretty good and much better than I expected. The audio system with 6 disc in dash changer sounds awful. The car is very quiet for a convertible and doesn't exhibit cowl shake.
MSRP on our car was $42,420 and the deal we got was 36 month lease, 12,000 miles per year $398 per month plus tax. Up front cost was $1000 which included 1st month rent, t/t/l fees, bank fee. The most amazing thing about this lease with Ford credit is that they give you a rider for free that allows you to return the car with up to $2500 of damage or wear (ie bald tires, worn brake pads) without any charge or termination fee.

Reports on the web say 2005 will feature a 50th anniversary edition but the salemen at the dealership said 2004 is the last year. I don't plan on becoming a member of any Tbird forum anytime soon.
