E55 AMG Wagon Seat Interlocks
Folks:
I often use my '06 wagon (W211) with the second row of seats folded down to give a flat floor, but whenever they are down, the front seats will only go part-way back. Is there a way to outwith this "feature"?
If the second-row seat backs are latched in the upright position, the front seats will move all the way back. If the second-row seat backs are not latched, the front seats only move far enough back for a 5'-4" RF passenger. I've looked for a switch in the latch mechanism and elsewhere, but found nothing. Motor running/not or doors open/closed, no change, If the second-row seat backs are not latched, I get a signal to that effect on the dash. Yes, I'm folding the second-row seats correctly.
This is a pain in the neck, so if anyone has a work-around, I'd like to know it.
Thanks,

It's ruined. Time to post that wagon up for sale, OP
I don't think there's a way around it. It's to prevent those very powerful seat motors from crushing the rear seats when they're folded up. Mine does the same thing but I honestly wouldn't want to go back any farther than it already allows, because I would either break the rear seat-bottoms in half, or break the head rest off the rear seat, or cause the rear seat-backs to break off their hinge.

That seems strange. On my E63 (sedan) the front seat automatically moves forward when the rear seat is released. I just tried it and you can just keep going back until you break something. Nothing stops it.
