Can anyone familiar with the 2006 E55 AMG take a look at a car that I am considering. The dealer in not Mercedesbut all service has been done at Mercedes dealers and they are willing to have the local Mercedes dealer do a PIP.

Pay the ppi and take to the dealer they will tell you all even if it was hit..Carfax doesn't show you all...or fly there look at it and fly back as you send the car on a truck .Originally Posted by Bill99

If you can, request they provide you the SBC health, particularly the actuations (Bremsenzaehler), pump cycles, and estimated life remaining in %.
Bremsenzaehler (DJ_GetBRLiveTime)
DJ_GetPmpCycle
DJ_GetPmpLD
Also, request the status of the clutch and brake packs in the transmission. 0 is new, 15 is worn out (300 millisecond engagement time). If the car has a clutch pack at 14, you're going to be needing a transmission clutch pack replaced relatively soon.

Even if it costs you an extra $100 on the inspection it's better than having to rebuild the transmission or replace the SBC three weeks after buying the car.

The dealer has had the car a long time, I went with a friend who was looking for a clean E55 and this car was rough and has sat because of it. Granted that was last year and they may have reconditioned it since. When we went to drive and look it over there was a lot was left on the table for their ask. The condition of the car was more in the ballpark of $10K than the $18K they were asking. Car pulled strong but had a lot of codes stored--a little bit of everything and they came back after being cleared and driven, no CEL, a lot of interior wear, COMMAND GPS thinking it was 300 miles offshore and small things that would need to be addressed to make the car whole. I'm surprised the car is still in inventory with no price change considering that was 6ish months ago.
THANKS. Doing a little more investigation on my own I see the following: On Auto Tempest sorting by age of ad I see it at the very bottom with Jan 17 as the list date. I assume that is 2017 ! Looking at the photos I see that the GPS does show it to be off shore. I talked to the dealer ownership and he says that it has only been in inventory for a few weeks. SO, either they lie through their teeth or the photos and what you saw do not represent this car. I will corroborate the dealer owner story with the salesperson before proceeding with the PIP.
I am now strongly considering taking Nokiemon advise and buy one from someone on this site where the owners are more likely to have loved the car. In any case if I proceed I will definitely get a PIP and maybe fly down to see the car myself.
Thanks again.

Unless the car is a repeat visitor and/or a personal car for someone that works at the dealer that is the SAME car that has been there since at least Sept 2017 when I first noticed it. Send me a PM or email if you want more info, I can give you some more insight on the dealer.

That's probably a better idea. Especially if you can find someone that has some history on the forum.Originally Posted by Bill99

ExplorePass on that one mate!! I live in FL and personally went and seen it. They have had it for sale for a LONG time and when I drove the car it didn't deep right. Something was up but they told me that I didn't know anything about the car....BS. I walked away and bought mine at another dealer and even though it has more miles, I'm so happy I didn't get that one.
Thanks all, I cancelled this out even before getting the PPI. Looking now for something in Mercedes and AMG and FAST !!!

I agree with Mr. Strigoi, if I were in the market for a 55, this one would be the way to go. Service records down to the quarters he put into the air pumps. Mileage might spook some buyers but its extremely well maintained. I had a w220 S500 with 250k+ miles and could have easily went for more,Originally Posted by Strigoi

Thanks so much to all about the Mercedes E55 that I was looking for. I finally purchased one that was mostly serviced by Mercedes Dealers. It is a 2006 E55 AMG with 75,000 miles. It needs to be loved and does not need anything to drive now but has not had items worked on like flushing the transmission fluid, leaking valve cover gaskets, front brakes, etc. A lot of that I can do on my own.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.
