Up to 31/10/2003 both chassis used half shafts and 10-bolt gear pattern. After that MB switched both to single piece drive shafts and 12-bolt gear pattern.
To answer your question accurately you have to check if your car is a pre-November 2003 model.
You can switch to later diff but you will have to change the drive shafts to later versions as well.
