Yup you read that right, I do not know why but I want that sc300.

It has a 2jzgte swap with a v160 and matching 3.26 rear end with trd lsd. Made 590whp and tuned with AEM V2...

Basically a 6spd Supra under a different shell...

Let me know your thoughts.. I think I miss driving manual turbo cars...

I definitely wouldn't want to rely on a thoroughly modified car as a daily driver. Also you never know what previous owners have done to it (and probably don't want to know). Hope you either have a decent amount set aside or are very knowledgeable in fixing the issues that tend to crop up in these sorts of projects.

I know what you mean though, I miss my old Japanese 5/6 speed manual +/- turbo cars, two MR2's, celica alltrac, 350Z etc. However I would always regret getting another one UNLESS it was a second car to the AMG. For daily stuff auto is so much easier and you can beat the torque. I am hoping to add an older boxster S manual some day for those twisty roads.

I do miss my 94 6spd true tt supra. But what I dont miss is the choppy trans and the creakyness of the targa body. Wish I still had it as a collector. But the refinement off the e55 is worth the loss of hp. The sc300 will be no different. Its old and you'll have to get used to that along with the rattles.

per Clarkson and many auto enthusiasts SC300 is one of worst auto car attempt design. I understand it's heavily modify, it's still SC 300 body! it's old lady car, no offence please.

You want a fast coupe, buy two door BMW M3 / M2 or C 63, Audi RS TT/RS4 or Nissan GTR. Heavily modify car is bad idea already, it's like bujying Porsche with Corvette engine, it's "cool" but bad idea.

I understand. But idk why, this car hit my soft spot.. I know it is prob a bad idea, the re-sale value will be lower than the amg, I am gonna loss all the comfort features luxury and stuffs, and maybe cause more trouble down the road for me..

I get it. I really like the SC300 despite what these guys think. I'm in the middle of a GTE swap in a GS300. My advice, if you buy a swapped car you should be skilled enough to have done it yourself. That way when things go wrong you can fix them. I sold a swapped 240sx to a guy that botched some wiring job in it, he didn't know how to fix it so he took it to a local shop in chicago that made a huge mess of things. Round and round he went, I offered to fix it but he declined. He was in over his head and it cost him thousands.

That is some good advice right there. I like the car also but I wouldn't trade an E55 for it.

Yeah its probably a bad idea but we car junkies don't always make our decisions based on logic. E55wannabe probably gave the best advice though.

Having fully built an IS300 with the 2jzgte in it, I highly advise just doing it yourself. Go find a scrapper car and buy a motor from Japan. Read up and do it yourself. You will have so much more pride in the car having done it yourself. I'm not a fan of the SC platform and found that the IS was a much more fun way to enjoy the 2JZ.

2005 E55 AMG, 1999 Lexus LS 400
i'm surprised not a single person asked if this is an april fool's joke lol... and if anyone has owned an old big lexus they'd see where he's coming from.

i own the sedan of which the SC is based off, and i must say in almost every sense it's just nicer to use than the E55. obviously the E55 will leave the LS in the dust plus it has much stronger brakes and better high speed handling, and the LS is pretty quick in its own right... but apart from that, the LS has a better ride, is more comfortable, quieter, uses way less gas, transmission shifts more smoothly and crisply (with the exception of flooring it and even then it's very close), MUCH better sound system, better reliability, easier to fix, generally cheaper to fix, takes potholes better, steering and overall feel is lighter and the car doesn't feel as lumbering going around town, no chance of walking out to the car only to find the exhaust tips nearly touching the ground, doesn't have a squeaky hamster wheel for an a/c blower motor, etc... mine being a hand-me-down from the grandparents i'm sure creates a bias but it's seriously a fantastic way to get around. if i could only have one car, it'd be the LS over the E55 no question.

but holy crap the E55 is such a god damn adrenaline syringe i need to have it too haha. on the whole i'd say the LS is a greater overall achievement, but it doesn't make me laugh like an immature idiot or produce sustained g-forces like the Kompressor.

I think they're gorgeous. If I win the lottery, that exact car is on my list. Not as my daily though.

I have a modern-ish version - a 2017 C63s convertible.

Some of these older cars can be quite a lot of fun. Two days ago I just bought a 1991, 5-speed toyota MR2 for throwing around twisty mountain roads. I used to have a couple of them several years ago and compared with AMG's the repairs and maintenance is amazing.

Do you live in a state with emissions testing? If so, I'd make sure that SC will pass your state emissions. Even if your state doesn't do visual and aren't absolute ***** about smog, I'd be wary of any US spec car with a JDM 2JZGTE as it's highly likely it's not emissions compliant. If the SC is OBD1, you still have to address the lack of EGR and sky high NOx you'll inevitably see on the rollers. If it's OBD2, things get much more complicated and expensive as far as basic emissions-compliance. I think every JDM 2JZGTE-swapped owner I know and have ever known who lives in a smog-state either knows "someone" and has to spend a small fortune to bribe them to pass, or was able to obtain a collector-title which exempts the car from emissions testing (but which then makes the car technically illegal for daily use). One kid I know actually put his GS in his grandmother's name to take advantage of a senior citizen waiver. Just something to think about depending on where you live.

Lexus makes some nice cars, so I'm not knocking it. But the Lexus that even sparked my interest was the Lexus LFA. I've only seen one, and that was at the NY International Auto Show years ago.

I am not a fan of a Lexus styling but they are very good cars nonetheless. The LC500 however is in my opinion a very good looking car. It’s just my personal opinion.
