My car feels slow, optimizing torque pro
I have a $250 autel scanner that shows an airmatic code (made a thread about it already, no posts in it yet), a code for my headrest motor and a code for license plate light. In other words, no red flags for slowness.
So, it's not in limp mode but this is what is throwing me off. The first year or two my car had no traction in first and sometimes lost traction in second. On the same set of tires, 20k miles later, it was dead hooking first.
My tires were hankook ventus all seasons, nothing special.
First used to be nothing but traction control lights and ECU Interventions. Now, no big deal. Hooks and goes.
So I bought the fancy code scanner (nothing of interest found in the ECU and TCU) and now I'm going to start logging to try and identify what's going on. In fact I'm happy to post logs in this forum if you guys can help me interpret them. Any help appreciated.
Car parts
Eaurocharge tune
Kleaman mid length headers
all resonators and cats removed
Johnson Intercooler pump
180mm Crank pulley
Belt wrap kit
Freshly cleaned K/N drop in filters
And rear tires are just 275 All seasons from Hankook.
so far all I have really looked at is timing, intake temps and pressure.
Seems like a hard pull gives me about 7 degrees of timing, 12 PSI and about 130 degree farenheit that recovers with just a few moments.
This concludes my preface, any help turning the beauty back to a beast is appreciated.
I also keep a second page with short and long term fuel trims. Good to check them occasionally, if your ECU is having to make big adjustments to fuel trims it could be an indication of something going on with the fuel system or a vacuum leak. Long term fuel trims WILL carry over into open loop fueling (wide open throttle) so if for some reason the ECU is having to pump a bunch of fuel in or pull a bunch of fuel in closed loop, it will do the same under WOT. Long term fuel trims should be <7% (I believe the "spec") but should be close to zero.
Check those LTFTs, and do you have a wideband?
Also the cars have adaptive learning based on your driving habits. After you double check your long term fuel trims if they are good, try disconnecting your battery for a half hour to reset all the adaptives and see if she goes back to the car you remember. (Check fuel trims first, they will reset also)
