Differentials: Sourcing HAG215 Housing
Hey guys,
Had an emergency come up (try and guess what could've possibly happened...), would like to know what other cars had a compatible housing.
I know 2005-2009 W211 cars had the new housing, but are there others that had the HAG215?
I know I'll need to upgrade the axles as well.
Trying to put a proper LSD in.

Don't know if you specifically are looking to go with a different differential, but just in case you are weighing all options I did notice this guy on the market place the other day for $250 (looks like you'd have to work shipping out with him though): https://mbworld.org/forums/market/699692

Cars made after 31/08/2003 have a different ring & pinion as well as bigger single piece drive shafts to those made before that date. I don’t think the housing is much/any different, just the internals and diff cover (cover bolt patters are not the same early vs later). Mounting pattern to the carrier is the same.
SL55 has the same diff as the pre-August ‘03 E55. R230 SL63 N/A has later type with bigger shafts and ring gear.
Later diffs fit early cars as you said. Have to buy the single piece shafts. Hub spline are the same in early and later E55.
