E55 NAV Update
Do I do the NAV update with the dash head unit or is ther another DVD reader somewhere in the car?

Yes. I have read that and actually responded in the thread but it does not say whether I have a separate reader or do I use the in dash.

I updated my NAV DVD with a 2016 version that I bought from eBay. Everything works perfectly.

be careful with EBay disc, I've ordered a couple from eBay and every single one I've got is just a burned pirated disc.
And even then, the year, or version they claimed, wasn't even the version I got. When I put them into my PC, the file would say it would be a 2010, or 2014, Etc.
I ended up trying to use one and the printed label on the top of the desk self-destructed in my wife's Tahoe. I had to take the head unit apart to clean it out.
I reported all these sellers to eBay about the piracy, and they didn't do anything, those sellers are still selling today.

wonder if there have been updates for Australian maps? might look into this as my maps are very old.

It's been mentioned in another forum. I guess some of those guys are just burning those discs and selling them. Anyone with strong google skills should be able to find it out there. I think the problem is that people burn them at high speeds, they work fine when burned at a lower speed. Those EPC/WIS Dvd's on eBay are also copies, same with those Star/Xentry C3/C4 systems, but nothing seems to happen with those.
