If I am correct, it’s in the middle of the rear axle under the car. It’s about the only connection under their.

'99 and '05 E55 AMG
It is mounted to the sway bar. If replaced, you will need to recalibrate the suspension. Not difficult.

It is not in a easy location to get at, but can be done.

When my E55 sits for 3-5 days the rear drops about 1/2 -1 inch. When I key the car and start it the car raises. I wonder if the back bags are going bad?

No...this is typical for these cars. Now after a few days, you come back to the car, and its slammed to the ground then yes......you have a big issue.
But its not unheard of, for the suspension to drop an 1/2" - 1" my car has done it for years, and as soon as the car is started, it raises back up and levels itself.

That's good, don't have to get the struts replaced.
Thanks for the reply,

Chris
