Fuel rail pressure sensor on E63?
I am getting a CEL for P228F and want to start by replacing the fuel pressure sensor. ALLDATA is showing 1 FPS at each end of the fuel rail. Before I go order parts and start tearing things apart can someone confirm there are indeed 2 sensors?

2007 E63 P228F and noisy lifters
2007 w211 E63 Virginia/DC area -90K
P228F code (2nd time) and noisy engine sounded like lifters were knocking like a diesel on start up
2nd owner - gas tank was changed twice by dealer with original owner
I have too many cars so my wife has been using the E63 as a daily driver/commuter for a year
P228F indicated it is related to "learned" fuel pressure limits
First time got CEL and P228F was last spring when the gas companies are changing gas formulations for the summer. Cleared it and it stayed away for 6 months.
2nd time was a few weeks ago (when the gas companies are changing gas formulations for the winter?)
1. I took the car from her and drove it a for a few days and accelerated hard every chance I got. That mostly fixed the noisy lifters which I assumed was caused by carbon accumulated under the exhaust valve seats from driving in daily traffic.
Cleared CEL and P228F and it came back after a day. 2 Added one bottle Chevron Techron to fuel tank as specified by MB-approved MM and filled up with 93 Octane Sunoco. Drove for a few days and engine became mechanically very quiet again - running like a watch. 3. Cleared CEL and P228F again. All good now and light hasn't come back.
You mileage may vary

The second sensor is inside the fuel tank, it has to do with fuel emissions/evap and tank pressure.

Thanks for the replies guys. I already swapped out the FPS on the fuel rail, it takes all of 3 minutes to do. Unfortunately it didn't fix the CEL. I will attempt the techron treatment.

I had a very similar situation with the occasional P228F code and as mentioned above I think it was totally related to fuel quality. I started avoiding a particular gas station around me that I was suspect of and it went away never to be seen again.

Well, I threw a bottle of Techron in the gas tank and cleared the CEL and to my amazement it hasn't popped back up yet. It would normally return after a shutdown and restart so at this point I'm going to say it worked.
thanks for the suggestion!

May i please ask here, in my attached picture, for all this “dirty ness “ is this an issue with the fuel rail or the fuel injector, or both? Thanks again everyone!
