E55 AMG Front airmatic spring compared to E500
Hi,
I had my front airmatic spring blow up while driving and the message popped up saying stop car too low. Now im about to replace the airspring and more than one parts store tries to sell me E500 Bilstein airsprings ,came to know that it is E500 part when i compared the bilstein part number for E55 amg and E500.
They tend to not have E55 airmatic springs except for the OEM which costs double the price for the same part, knowing that bilstein makes the E55 airmatic struts.
My question is that will it be ok to install an E500 airspring on the E55? And what are the differences between both?
Thanks,

I personally don't know the answer to that question. But I would say get the right parts, and do the job right the first time, and you'll be much happier in the long run.

The physical fitment should be the same, but the damping control will be different than the E500. This could result in some weird handling, especially if you're only replacing 1 shock.

Oh, and my still functional drivers side old OEM original went for $269 on ebay. The leaking one went for $80 as a core.
Smartest move in hindsight? At around 100k (assuming fronts are OEM original), remove the functional fronts, sell them both on ebay for over $500 total return. Take that $500 and put towards brand new OE Bilstein's from FCP with their Lifetime Warranty.
