Have you hear about the M113K that went KA BOOM?

Saw an facebook post this week, a guy who owns a SL55 amg blew his motor.
The cause being one of the injectors was stuck open and dumping too much fuel into the cylinder that eventually bent a rod.
First time hearing this issue on our motors, it is really common on the early version BMW N63 motors tho..

I have heard of it a couple of times on M156 engines and a couple of M113's but I wouldn't say it is a common issue at all.

Are you talking about the guy that works for FCP Euro? I just read the article today, it blew only a week after he bought it. Never said what caused it though, I guess that's the part 3 update. Or maybe we're talking about 2 different guys lol

I've heard of a few injector issues on the M113k, but not at all common

This place is a joke.
I saw this happen this year on an E55 with about 160k miles, a well kept and maintained car. The problem turned out to be a faulty engine wiring harness. Just like the old MB's the insulation is cracking apart and causing short circuits. One injector stayed open, luckily the engine was not hurt, but it did fry the engine control unit. I cut open the harness under the supercharger where it is encased in a rubber sleeve, the wire insulation crumbed apart, the wires were corroded as well. I replaced the harness and ECU and all was well afterwards. I may consider replacing my engine harness in the near future as preventative maintenance, however I have not seen another one yet. The only answer I was not able to get was if this engine had been cleaned and washed down often. I suspect water may have soaked into the rubberized sleeve causing the failure to occur sooner.

I did a PPI on a high horsepower SL65 and early in the cars life this happened. I forgot how big his bill was.
