ok got pictures to upload and are very large; and now my question is removed, so.........
I purchased a new rear flex disc at the advice of an independent mechanic. I went to install it yesterday and looking it over it doesn't seem to need it. There's the flaking of the outside thin layer/covering (of some sort) but there are no actual cracks or holes, etc. May I please get all your opinion. Thank you!

From the photos that you provided, this flex disc looks absolutely fine to me.
I can't see any apparent issues, that would need to be addressed by replacing it.
This flex disc looks exactly like mine.

What appeared to be cracks in the second picture, look after closer inspection to be a coating of some sort chipping away - or just road grime. +1 on looks fine.

I had a discussion with my AMG Tech, he said these Flex Disc aren't something that normally fails.
These disc are made from some really thick rubber to dampen out vibrations in the drive line.
And they stand up to a lot of torque, and that is why AMG continues to utilize them.
