WHICH LSD is Better for E55?

I'm thinking about LSD, is it worth the cost and why? Wavetrack or Quaifi? Are there other alternative on LSD brand? Should I invest on other mods instead?

Below are my mods...your input is appreciated.

2006 E55 AMG: VRP 76mm S/C pulley, VRP BWK, VRP heat exchanger, VRP Split cooling kit, VRP Superflo, MB (VRP) 82mm TB, Bosch (VRP) 550cc injectors, Upgraded Super Cheap Stolen Chinese LTH, NGK colder plugs, RaceIQ tuned ECU.

Quaife for better DD and wavetrac for morr agressive diff imo. I have the wavetrac its a bit rough at low speed tight corners but great on track and grip is great even on rough roads (big bonus for me).

I find the wavetrac no less comfortable than stock. Honestly can not tell it's a different diff unless I'm on it.

Thanks, I thought about 10 hours but it's good to know what other dealers are quoting. I was thinking wavetrac but I am only street driving. Maybe quaife would be better, at least there is a dealer here, NZ$2100 I recall.

Yeah i dunno what roads like in hamilton but here in chch they **** so i wanted the diff to stay locked over bumps. Im gonna switch my wheels over tomorrow ill let you know if its smoother at park lot/intersection taking off into right turn speeds. Basically i think it goes to or near 100% lock so very very slight hop judder feel from rear in that situation only. I dunno if it a wavetrac or justcgeneral aggressive after market thing.

The wavetrac is amazing in corners and in straight line my god it better so much tighter. Rear end was like a whales tail before fooking esp diff side to side wollow.

LOL! I wish it was true about being rich. The LSD cost me less than the Wavetrac. RB Motorsport in the UK supplied it.

I have read many comparisons from all different forums. I think for a street car you can't go wrong with either. I think I will just get which ever is cheapest with a bias towards quaife since we actually have an official distributor here.

Thanks guys for all your comments, still on the fence on LSD. Most likely going with Wavetrack cause VRP have it on sale this month; however, not sure if I need it. I don't plan on tracking it (don't think there's a 1/4 track in So Cal), what are other benefits to get LSD other then better grip? When installing LSD, would you truly see a difference from the get go?

The rear end tightens rignt up. Pre lsd my rear end would sway side to side when smashing it in a striaght line even with esp off because the brakes keep getting applied to one wheel then the other to try sort the open diff. There is also a hesitation in 1st to 2nd gearshift under wot that is from the esp cutting power because the transmission does not want to shift while the wheel speed sensors at the rear have exceeded the tolerance for spinning at a different speed.

honestly of all my mods it made the biggest difference in my mind.

spot on descriptions how I feel when driving my car. You’ve convinced me to pull the trigger on LSD...thanks for making me spend more Mula on a 12 y/o car. 😀
But it will be worth it!!

Most likely gonna go with Wavetrack from VRP, Phil recommended to me plus he has them on sale for $975; AND!!! he owes me my core refund on my snout. Not sure how y’all feel about VRP, but Phil done-me good with many wised advices and supports when I started modifying my car; i.g. No CEL when I installed 82 TB or any other mods on advisements from Phil at VRP and Tony from RaceIQ promptly sends me two re-tunes (no charge) in a matter of a few days when I told him about my pending additions.

I forgot to ask. Did the dealer suggest taking it to the differential specialist? I thought they would have been able to take care of it without much trouble?

Nah i suggested it originally coz i knew diff specialist was 80 or 90 ph and quoted 2 to 4 hours, think it was 300 including diff oil in end. I suspect if i had gone to dealer theyd have just sent it to them anyway, i know they use other companies for alignment and muffler/welding work and some other **** like repairing my axle. But if they use those companies on your behalf they charge markup.. They didnt offer to do it all themselves so im pretty confident.
