Dilemma: I'm finally ready for a set of mufflers and have two sellers lined up, one with a C63 exhaust and the other an E63, both close in price.
I already have an X pipe and secondary cat delete, everything else is stock.
I've gone through every thread I can find, there seems to be many more videos and info on the C63 but not on the E63 mufflers which from looking at pictures seems to be a direct swap fitment.
It seems the consensus is the E63 mufflers might be a little more tame, the problem is that there are two youtube videos of the setup I'm looking at. One seems too quiet and the other quite raspy and loud...and we all know the video quality never does things justice.
A lot of the C63 videos have guys with headers and no cats, which is definitely too 'brutal' for my tastes.
If you were in my position, which would you choose? And anyone in the Seattle area with a similar exhaust want to let me buy you a beer some time? 😄
I should also note the E63 mufflers are $100 less, hence my wanting more info on them vs the C63 cans.
My last favorite sounding car was my E39 M5 with a muffler delete, but resonators and cats in place. Loud without drone, only slight noise when cruising with the windows up. I'm fine waking up my kids but not my neighbors haha.
My E63 has no cats, xpipe, and no resonators and they're mighty loud when I stab the throttle. Any louder and I'd feel like i'm obnoxious. CLS63 might be louder than E63?
if you have your factory resonators with your current configuration it'll be very tame. it'll simply sound sporty and very manageable.
What kinda life do you wanna live? Like people hearing you from a mile away? Love doing hoodrat sht? Ever get the sudden urge to rev your engine whenever you are driving? I'd go C63 mufflers all the way if any of these apply to you.
Do my mind sharing where you got the work done? I'm looking to have a set installed on my E55 and would feel better about going to a shop that had already done this.
Here you go guy owns benz's him self and understands these cars , he fixed the crack on my exhaust manifold on the e55 for a good price give him a call :
