Performance Modification Advice?

I am looking to modify my cls55 amg and was looking to gather some opinions.
I do not plan to track or drag my car, this will strictly be a fun sunday driver.
I am considering the VRP700 package... However since this is a sunday driver,
I don't want to end up crusing along and having the transmission fall out of the car
leaving me and my kids stranded... Can anyone provide me with advice with a safe
level of horsepower modification... or modifications that will allow me to achieve the
highest level of power with most reliability?
warm regards!

My mods is almost equivalent to VRP650 package with exception to the added LTH instead of mids. I got great advice and support from Phil at VRP Speed and Tony from RaceIQ is AWESOME on hooking my tune/re-tunes!

My E55 is a DD and I’m enjoying the crap out of it. I’ve just started modding it three months ago and finished last month. I had it stocked for over eight years, I have over 172k miles now and running smooth n strong with no CEL (very fortunate) and my dynamic seat just started to work yesterday after an eight years absent!

No regrets on decisions to mod, should of bought VRP700 package instead of piecing it but I would definitely opt for the LTH instead of mids if I were you. Good luck!

Have you dyno'd your car? Is the VRP650 package, 650 crank or whp?

planning to dyno it after the holiday break, making sure I’m not running lean on AFR, not sure what figures I’ll be getting but it will be interesting.

At the Crank is what I’m guessing VRP is advertising it’s performance package output(???).

This is what I would do if I were you, keep it simple and the car will be reliable, quick and fun. Get the ASP pinned 168mm crank pulley, MBH long tubes, split the cooling system and RACEIQ tune it. That combo will put you at roughly 510rwhp/590rwtq with no heat issues and great reliable power. I have seen this setup go deep 11's at a good track with good air. PM me if you need any further help.

My take would be long tube headers, heat exchanger, new pump and a tune. For slightly more risk a pulley (either supercharger or crank) would help a lot.

Crank pulleys are great, but they have a very rigorous installation procedure to get correct if you go that route. To the point that I would not trust many shops to do it unless they have done them before and know what they are doing.

www.eurocharged.com pulleys, tunes, mid length headers, have a look at their offerings under E55.
google raceIQ they do tunes also
https://www.mbhmotorsports.com/produ...g-tube-headers they do high quality long tube headers
Shardul sells pulleys, PLM heat exchangers, you can email or PM, here is one of his threads https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/...its-stock.html
You can get 010 intercooler pumps from fcpeuro.com or pelicanparts.com

When we say "split the cooling system" is this a trunk mount tank?

No it is in the engine bay. They use a BMW reservoir. I personally don't think it adds any benefit at all and I wouldn't bother.

You can order the pinned ASP crank pulley direct from ASP, google them. Call them up, and tell them you want a pinned style 168mm crank pulley for your E55.

For the MBH headers, call DYNO COMP located in Arizona, and order them from Dyno Comp, MBH and Dyno Comp is the same header.

I second that. I myself saw no difference before and after, the BMW reservoir is a waste of time and money. I have mine that was used then removed in my garage if you are determined to do it I'll sell to you haha.

spliting cooling do make BIG difference than not splitting, no matter how big reservoir is, NO??? Specially when mods

No, split cooling makes zero difference(in my experience) unless you have a larger reservoir that you have in series with piping and not just a surge volume. And that slightly delay the time it takes for the volume of liquid to heat up.

after I installed ic pump, HE, and 76 SCP then checked IAT I saw cruising temp at 125-150 and ambient at 70. I’m thinking I didn’t know how to operate dash command and was giving me wrong data but then I split cooling with BMW res and it dropped 15-20 over ambient. Maybe I didn’t bleed properly after mods installed and before splitting cooling.

That would be my guess too. I already had CWA50 and heat exchanger installed and running at 15 above ambient when I installed the BMW reservoir only and saw no change.

I'm stock with just a 010 pump, my cruising temp is 20 over ambient, definitely had an air bubble in your system. With 50 degree weather we've been having I hardly see 100f IATs after a 0-100 run.

Think you are right, I didn't properly bleed air bubble out the first and second time, finally relooked at the "how to" and bubbles gone (forgot to clamp hose ) running good now.
