NEW KEY FOB
I'M BACK!!! LOL
Just picked up a 2005 55 with some goodies, and I'm happy to be back in a 55! The previous owner only had one "keyless Go" key fob and the one he gave me is beat to hell. I am looking to purchase and have programmed 2 new keyless Go FOB's. I see some shells on Ebay for $30-$40, but they need to be programmed or have new internals installed. Does anyone out there have any advice or prior experience? Hope you ALL are well and I wish you all the BEST moving into 2019!

They're a dealer only item and not cheap. Shop around though as some dealers can be quite a bit cheaper than others for them. I'd expect to spend at least $500+ for two of them though.

You can easily swap out the inside of your current key to a new outer key case. The second key is dealer only, very expensive, etc. A word of caution. Be very specific that you want an additional key that will allow the first key to still work. A miscommunication could make your current key inoperable.

I paid $832 at the dealer for two new key fobs and blade keys.....and I got a 20% discount...lol.
The keys must be ordered, take 2-3 days to arrive and come pre-programmed from Mercedes.
No other viable options

I can attest to that, only the dealer can provide you with a key....period. Don't buy any rubbish off of eBay.
I can't remember what the number is, but their are only so many keys that can be programmed for your car.
These keys run around $250-325 normally. Depending on the dealer.
