Finished Mirror Conversion; Old Idea but New Project 4 Me
Just got them delivered on Monday, dropped off to body shop on Tuesday, and pick up finished products today; gonna install with mirror switch ASAP and hopefully don't need SDS to program power folding option, but read throughout forum that PROGRAMING is required. Hopefully they fit and no more Mickey's Ears with Gap!

OEM? I'm looking to add these to my E55 as well, and from what I've read and been told, programming is required.

But, I always wanted power folding mirrors so I don’t have to worry some yayhoo smacking into them. Still want LSD & E63 bumper. Then I’m DUN.

There's no programming required. They plug right in but if you have an earlier car like I do (2003) you will need a pair of facelift doors. That's because the pocket for the mirror got about 1/4" deeper in later cars.

Really? For power folding mirrors function you don’t need SDS programming? I have 2006 E55

I was going to do it on my SL55 and was told I had to add another CGW , instead i added 09 mirrors ,but bought the CGW so I can use the brake hold option that had to be programmed via STAR, I would imagine you will need to program or “ turn them on “ thru STAR

You lost me at “CGW” & “brake hold option” what are those and their functions?

CGW =Central Gateway. It's the router for the networked distributed digital control system plus contains the version coding info for the car, the flexible service system maintenance programs plus more.
Brake hold option was used on the early models; press the brake at a stop light, remove your foot from the pedal and the brakes remain applied until you move the accelerator pedal.
Check PM.

I do remember as posted above CGW has a fair bit of functions for the mirrors. My Snap On diagnostics tool can do CGW programming so you don't have to use the Star btw.

So I finally finished installing new mirrors and mirror switch with folding option and the power folding mirrors worked when I pushed the button to open and close. Very happy about that without needing to program power folding mirror with STAR or CGW! Apparently it's a plug and play with the switch on power folding mirror option on my car even though my car didn't have folding mirror option at all. The overall installation got 75% easier when the aftermarket mirrors aligned perfectly with the stock mirror holes; no drilling needed. The driver door panel was easy to remove to install switch and easy to reinstalled. I used screws (see photo) bought from Home Depot and they were exact fit. I had to removed the tweeters and partially removed window panel by the tweeter to access the screw holes, didn't have to remove passenger side door panel. Sharing some photos for others that might want to do this project.

Well I can speak for myself and I didn't need to program anything but then I had folding mirrors standard so perhaps this is why I only needed to plug them in and all worked as before.

Good job on the mirrors. Looks great. Perhaps yours had the folding function originally but wires were damaged (they get chopped after a while - design flaw). Hard to imagine MB putting a button there that doesn't do anything, they would use a blank instead.
Re: Diag tool. I use a Snap On Verus Pro. It has same functionality as the Star on our platform. I'm not sure about other SO diag machines as I've only ever used the Verus.

Would STAR help to program mirrors to auto fold in or out when car lock, unlocked or starts?
Snap On Verus Pro is BIG MONEY, PieRat is right, you are a BALLER!

LOL! You guys are way too easily impressed. It was a run out model and didn't cost anywhere near the SO asking prices. Good to know you didn't need to program anything in the end bud

Interesting. Do you have less wind noise at speed? I'd do this just to cut that down. My w211 side mirrors make noticeably more noise than the ones on a, say for instance, '08 S class.

didn’t notice noises prior but now when WOT I fold em in like the F14 Tomcat in Top Gun or Superman!

per your request, I was looking into CF covers but didn't look hard enough. If you found CF facelift, please post cause I'm sure it look nice! Was thinking about wrap before painting em but figure painting last longer.
PS
Hope links above works for ya, I searched on Amazon with help from OP regarding mirrors conversion. Amazon link for mirrors state unavailable but I first found them on CarParts.com (third link).

All I've seen were manual folding ones; there are some on eBay (very few) that are selling power folding mirror but selling individual sides and from different sellers.
Search wisely...and good luck!

for those who's looking to upgrade your mirrors, apparently I've been checking online and the ordered I've received are NOT available anymore for a pair of power folding mirrors.
