Hi , have this code on my 2004 w211 and can’t figure out what is it.
p2511 : the torque converter lock-up clutch has excessive power consumption

use a STAR to diagnose not a cheap scan tool

Thank you for your replay! After extended web search torque converter lock-up clutch refers to the y3/6y6 solonoid.

should this component be replaced or i have to change all the trani board?

hello, I will tomorrow, but found out that the convertor clutch thing is just an old nomenclature and it is related to this solonoid.

I am wondering if you ever found the solution i have spent $1500 trying to find out the issue and Mercedes wants to just replace the whole board for $4000 so if you have any advice please let me know

they want to do the whole conductor plate
all I have done so far is get them to scan the car ($500) here is what they had to say from that Vist “found current fault code for

transmission 2511 friction power of the torque converter luck up clutch is too high. nature of the fault is internal transmission fault, lifted

vehicle and performed visual inspection of transmission, found minor fluid seep along the pan gasket. recommend transmission fluid and filter service to start if not been done recently.”

so about two weeks later they got me in to do a transmission flush ($1100) and it is still down shifting rough and occasionally it will get stuck in gear and do a limp mode but if I shut off the car and let it sit for awhile it gets out of limp mode

My god,$500.00 to scan it and $1,100.00 to do a transmission flush?
Did they even tell you what if anything was in the pan when they dropped it? Fluid condition / Burnt?

I did ask these questions and they surprisingly answered them the transmission oil was black so the previous owner did not do a transmission flush recently and they said there were no metal shards so that’s what makes me think it’s not a internal problem it’s something electrical and the car is at 175k km do you have any tips about this code they are getting because I’m trying to figure out the problem and not take it back to Benz because it is costing me quite a bit but Mercedes is the only place in my town that can scan the car and see the transmission codes

Sounds like the converter may be done but you have to get into the ECU with STAR and see what the clutch fill times are and test out solenoids.
Be prepared the trans may be done and need a rebuild.
Does the car seem like it's "pushing" through the brakes when you stop or almost want to stall when coming to a stop?

I have not tried to read the ecu with that scanner but I can try. And yes that is basically the exact feeling when it is down shifting feels like some one who can’t downshift properly in a manual car if there is somewhere I can send you a video I can send a video of the me coming to a stop

So the car feels like it is "pushing" forward and does not want to slow down when coming to a stop and then all of a sudden it's good ??

so when I am slowing down it “pushes” forward but it does slow down it just has the “push” feeling when down shifting and accelerating is completely fine and doesn’t feel weird

Sounds like the converter is staying "on" wich will give you that effect. So either it's bad or it's electrical.
You really need to have your own Star/Xentry computer system if you are going to own one of these cars. It's cheaper to have bought one than to have paid the dealer just one time.
