We bought our first Volvo, a '97 850R sedan, for my wife to drive. The following month I flew down to California for a matching, but modded, red R wagon. I sold that wagon when I stumbled upon my unicorn, the T-5R, sitting in a Spokane salvage yard. Paid $543 for the car, and drove it 300+ miles home. Sold it a year later, and tried a couple of 240's, but didn't like them. Picked up my Saffron for cheap, and wanted a V70R like yours, but it sold before I could buy it. Bought my C55 instead, and then sold that for my E55.

If it were stock vs. stock, I would likely still prefer an E63 for a few reasons. The engine sounds ridiculous and the transmission is better with more usable paddles in the E63 right out the gate. I also prefer the black headliner and steering wheel in the E63. However, the way this car is built, I can't imagine any AMG I would rather have other than maybe this same car in wagon form. It's this particular car with the color combo and performance mods that is what makes me love it so much. This is also the only E55 I have ever driven so I have no idea what a stock one drives and sounds like. They seem pretty similar from my memory of having the E63 overall. It felt very familar getting behind the wheel of this one.
Some sunshine photos to better see the color but nothing captures the way it looks in person. It's stunning.

Finally took new pics of the daily beast. Replaced the cam and crank position sensors yesterday and will be replacing the engine mounts very soon. Was going to de-badge the car but haven't yet. The aftermarket E63 front bumper didn't have any good way of mounting the PDC sensors. I tried some epoxy but the bumper just flexes too much so leaving it with the 55 one for now.

Thanks everyone! Funny how the E55 bumper is starting to look better to me than the E63. If I could just mold the two together for the fog openings and side inlets from the E63 onto the E55. I like the flatter front end better.
I started to last weekend but that driver side upper bolt is a PITA with the headers there. Not even sure how I get the bolt out with such little clearance on the driver. Guess the engine needs to be jacked up as I loosen the bolt maybe? I am sure it's not too bad but I didn't have the time to finish then so will tackle it soon.

Got a Wavetrac LSD (still needs to be installed) and finally got around to putting the E63 front bumper on with carbon lip. It was aftermarket so I also had to buy a wrecked E63 bumper to get the PDC sensors, brackets, and ended up getting the OE fogs and some other stuff. I also installed ZKW 3" clear projector lenses and new outer lenses. Put some yellow film on the DRL's. I do plan on having the wheel centers done in a cross between gunmetal and bronze.
