Help - alloy wheel advice needed please
Hi all,
I have a 2004 E55 with the standard 18” amg IV(I think?) alloys which I believe are 8J ET 30 fronts and 9J ET 39 rears. One of the rear alloys is cracked - doesn’t cause much of an issue other than losing a bit of tyre pressure up to 2 or 3psi per week. I have seen a second hand set of Mercedes amg alloys(I have no reason to suspect they are not genuine) but the offsets are different 8.5J ET 48 and 9J 54. So the question is will the wider front and different offsets be ok for my car and will they affect anything?
Trying to find one rear has proved fruitless and I believe that a weld on a cracked alloy won’t be as good as an un-cracked alloy and it could fail again.
thanks in advance

Btw, I’m thinking of selling my stock set 2006 E55 wheels and tires, not sure if they’re the same with yours. Here are some photos. Look me up if you’re in So Cal.

Thanks for quick response and no iv not tried getting it welded- tbh I’m not that bothered by the crack other than having to check the tyre pressures weekly and the fact that everytime I get tyres replaced they mention the crack. However I have seen a set which are in fact almost identical to yours and from photos look in good condition and advertised with no cracks welds or buckles and with legal tyres on. I would be interested in yours but I’m in England and this set has come up within a collectable distance and at a reasonable price. But having never got second hand alloys or knowing much about offsets it’s only those numbers that are putting me off. Here is a link to the advert.....

You’re just a hop and skip from me...I would re-weld that wheel; much better than spending 350 pounds. Yeah, offset confused the H out of me too but I’m slowly learning. Back of your wheels should have some markings, one of them should be your offset. I’ll check mine and update my post for ya. Will even Post some photos...

In the US, I'd tell you to look at the back of the wheel and get the MB part number and then search on eBay for that part number. Those E55 wheels aren't that common though and are hard to find. I have a crack in my 18" wheel, locally it was like $160 to have the wheel welded and bent back, but I managed to find some refurbished OEM ones on eBay for $150. But in your case if they're over $300 a wheel, then it's probably cheaper to find a local place that will weld and bend the wheel back.

iv found out some more information, it’s actually £350 for the set of 4 wheels with used (still legal) tyres on. They came off a W212 E class 350. It’s just the large offset from original wheels et30 et39 on mine currently and these are standard for the w212 at et48 and et54. So will the largish difference in offset be a problem and also the slightly wider fronts at 8.5J instead of 8J. The wheels look in good condition and tyres have a few more months left, good price at £350 and 3 hour drive to collect - BUT do w212 wheels fit on a W211 E55?
